Hello, I’ve had some symptoms for a while (brain fog, heart palpitations, disturbed sleep) and was informed by my gp on Tuesday my bloods point to peri. Then that same day I came on my period lol. Anyway just wondering if anyone has any advice please. I don’t feel ready for hrt. I’m 45 thanks

I started HRT at 49 wish I'd started earlier rather than struggling. I'm 53 now and so much better than I was.

I just started HRT and am 45 with similar symptoms to you. I already feel more alert and have more energy and am slightly more functional at work. Going to talk about testosterone next for my non existent libido (in Australia tho so not sure if the rules are different here)

I started HRT at 44, wish I'd started at 40/42.

I was expecting meno from late 30s.

HRT is bloody marvellous. Esp if you get testosterone too!

Thanks ladies so when did you start HRT after feeling the first symptoms? I started with the heart palpitations about six months ago. Weirdly my anxiety has improved and it was horrendous when I was pregnant!

You have symptoms of perimenopause (ignore the blood test results, they aren't used for diagnosing peri) so you are 'ready' for HRT if you want it. You may have 10 years of peri symptoms ahead of you! You don't get any medals for toughing it out, and there is some evidence that the earlier in peri you start using HRT, the better the long term protective effects for your heart and bones

I started 2 years ago aged 44 and I can't recommend it enough. You also need to make sure you're eating a nutritious diet, moving your body every day and managing stress as much as you can

Okay thank you. Honestly all these comments are so helpful. It’s me that thought I wasn’t ready. He said it’s entirely up to me. I lost 3st with slimming world about 3 years ago. Put 2 back on and been struggling to lose even half a stone. Can anyone please advise if this is down to peri and how I can change and lose this weight. I instantly think I’ll feel better. Thanks all x
