Lenzetto 1 x spray with 2 utrogestan pills continually. Feeling ill

post menopausal I was on oestrogen 2 pumps and utrogestan 1 pill. I stopped last september as i was feeling pretty good and wanted to see how i would get on without it. Recently night sweats have come back not as severe but still a pain. I decided to see doctor and restart HRT - this time 1 spray of lenzetto (decided to try as dries quicker) and 2 utrogestan pills. All week ive been feeling a bit off then yesterday had blurry vision most of the morning that transcended into a migraine and diarreah. I'm not sure if i should continue felt terrible and today feel like I've got a hangover. Anyone else experienced this? Wondering if I should I continue and hope its just adjustment back to hrt? - had to come home from work felt so ill. Was hoping to be back on it feel better and then try testosterone in a few months to help with energy and libido.

Continuous HRT is not 200mgs of Utrogestan daily.

It's 100mgs a day or 12 days at 200mgs.

Is there a reason why you've been told to take that?

I'm post menopause not a period for about 5 years. Prescribed 1 spray of lenzetto a day and 2 x 100mg tablets of utrogestan to be taken at night per sticker on box was told to take every day.

I do 1 Lenzetto and continuous progesterone. But one tablet each night as (the ever wonderful) @JinglingSpringbells says.

My go said even if I feel I need to go up to 2 sprays, still one tablet.

I think your instructions are wrong.

I’ve just been through this - basically the instructions are wrong.
Initially, Lenzetto 1 or 2 sprays (to control sweats etc) requires 1 progesterone.
if the above doesn’t stop the symptoms the increase Lenzetto to 3 or even 4 sprays. Only then do you need to balance it with 2 x utrogestan.

I had a v low mood and anxiety with 100mg oral progesterone so my GP advised me to take it vaginally. Problem solved - and I still get a bit of the sedative effect so my sleep is good during the progesterone part of my cycle (am on sequential).

You need to contact your GP.
Your prescription is incorrect.

It needs changing but in the meantime you can take one capsule.

You can check this out online yourself- search for Utrogestan dose, for post menopause on a continuous HRT cycle. (Be aware that some info is out of date as it may say 25 days out of 28. In practise this is now daily, with no break.)

The only women who take double the dose are those on a very high dose of estrogen (4 pumps of gel or 100mcg patch.)

I was on three pumps of gel and told to take 2 utrogestan continuously. I believe 3 pumps is a grey area? My GP has a specialist interest in menopause and went with this.

It's an option, not mandatory.
There is guidance from the British Menopause Society in their report 'endometrial protection' (it's online.)
I think the wording is 'consider'.

What should be considered is - are you having any spotting? How do you feel using 200 mgs every day?

All women absorb estrogen differently. I know that the dose I am on gives me a reasonable withdrawal bleed. I have a friend on a higher dose and she gets barely any bleed (we're roughly the same age, many years post meno, using the same dose of Utrogestan etc.)

In an ideal world, the NHS would offer scans as prevention rather than if anything was amiss - 'Try the usual dose of 100mgs for 6 months and then have a scan of your uterine lining.' So, careful monitoring.

The 'problem' with GPs and the NHS is they don't allow for individual prescribing and ongoing monitoring where it might help.

Edited

Thanks so much that makes complete sense - i was told 1 spray was equivalent to 2 pumps of gel and with 2 pumps of gel I only had 1 utrogestan so couldn't work out why it said 2. Suspect thats why i had such a bad headache and felt awful. Will contact GP - may have been a pharmacist error even.
