Experiences of having a Mirena coil for perimenopause after problems before

Hi, I'm 43 and have definitely been experiencing perimenopause for a couple of years (mum was late 30's & older sister been on HRT since she was 41)
Symptoms first started as low mood/anxiety and was started on sertraline - sorted. Then after a while become severally fatigued, iron checked and was very low but not anemic as hemoglobin ok. Regular and very heavy periods could and probably contributing towards this. Been on high strength iron (420mg) a day and iron gone up, but still not in normal range and at different points during the month feel worse than others. Been checked for celiac, IBS, and the 2 fetal tests to rule out other nasties and all clear. There isn't a 'medical' reason as to why my body is low or lower than average, apart from the obvious heavy periods. Anyway the past 6 months my periods have started changing and where they were always 28 days (or there about) i can go 3/5 weeks, so definitely a change in frequency.
Anyway went back to the doctors today as just want to feel normal again! They have offered HRT and given me all the info read then back in next to decide what I take.
They have offered the IUD which would provide the progesterone hormone and help with periods. The issue i have is i had this after my 2nd son and I didn't agree with me, fitting was fine, periods stopped, but think it caused anxiety etc. This was over 10 years ago though!!
I wanted to see if anyone else chose the IUD after experiencing issues previously and if, now being older, if was different?
Having the IUD is appealing as don't have to worry about periods and would have to take progesterone anyway if I didn't have it!?
I know everyone's different but keen to hear others experiences!
Thanks in advance

Same. Tried after second child and abandoned it.

Now menopausal and on HRT withbmirena and after first couple of months of reacting to it, it settled and I'm a new woman

BTW you are taking too much iron. 210 every other day is the new guidance. Google it. I was same age as you. Once I had mirena fitted I went from 16-118 for my ferritin taking one tablet every 48hrs.

i had issues with the mirena in my 30’s. Constant spotting and generally feeling rubbish. Refitted in my 40’s with low progesterone and I’ve had no problems at all. I have no periods with it and mo
side effects.

You basically sound similar to me! I tried mirena in mid thirties but developed anxiety after never having it (significantly) in my life before. I also have heavy periods and am on high strength iron. My mum and sister were same ages as well. I started hrt at 46 it’s helped with energy levels, sleep and mood and the night sweats stopped. I have the combined patches which work well for
me I don’t think I would have agreed to coil again.

Is it an issue to take more? I’m on same as op. Doctors have just left me on it as every time I came off my levels dropped again. I do still have heavy periods though.

I had a Mirena in my late 30s and had it removed due to anxiety.
10 years on, I’m on Sertraline and have another Mirena plus oestrogen gel. I’ve been ok this time. Obviously the Sertraline helps, but I also think I need oestrogen and when I had Mirena alone it didn’t suit me. Now I have more of a balance I’m ok.

No, it's just there's only so much your body can absorb in 48hrs.

Theres loads of evidence for this online. I discovered it after a locum put me on 3 tablets a day. Made me feel sick and I was barely eating as you have to have an empty stomach for two hours before taking it.

Thanks. I had already googled the iron and found the same. The doctor just put me on it, repeat prescription and never offered any advice! I have dropped my dose and only taking every other day
