Is discharge and cramping normal when using progesterone vaginally?

Hi im new to this forum and came across it while trying to find somewhere that I could get some advice.Im 44 and I have a condition called high prolactin and about 3 months ago it was discovered that it had caused my estrogen levels to be completely wiped out, ive been on the mini pill for about 20 years so i dont get periods anyway. I started hrt patches but had problems with them staying on my skin even though I was using second skin on top of them, I was prescribed a different patch but it turns out there is a problem with the manufacturer and none of the chemists in my area could source them. I cant take the oral tablets due to my BMI so my only option was the gel with progesterone tablets but due to chronic stomach problems I had to take the tablet the off licence way by inserting it vaginally, so last night was the first time I did this and in the hours after doing so I could literally feel the discharge gushing from me ( i have had zero discharge for many years) I had to get out of bed to clean myself up and then this morning ive had period like pains, could anyone please advise me if this is normal or not, any advice would be greatly appreciated as im scared of having to do this again tonight. Sorry for the long post I just thought it was best to explain my history.

It's caused partly by the contents of the capsule when they dissolve (they contain oil which is mixed with the progesterone) and the capsule shell.
It is normal ,but it's best to wear pants and a panty liner at night.
So it's not something to worry about , just to manage as best as possible.

The period type cramps are normal and it's just the action of the progesterone on the womb lining. You may find it decreases once you've used it for a few days.

There is only one sort. It's a soft slightly soft cream coloured tablet.

I called it a capsule as the coating is shiny and slightly rubbery, rather than hard like a paracetamol, and the drug is inside it. If you cut it open you could squeeze out the progesterone.

I've used it for years (over 12.)

Capsules have a shell that dissolves - which is what micronised progesterone has.
