Considering restarting HRT at 66 for returning menopause symptoms

Hi ,just wondering if anyone else is facing this now ,i was 55yrs when I went on hrt patches ,till I was sixty as advised to come off them now aged 66 I find my symptoms are getting the better of me ,hot flushes so much worse at nighttime, can't sleep ,exhausted, mood swings bad temper ,anxiety, low mood ,fed up ,have just made an appointment to see a doctor about resuming hrt again ,thanks

I'm slightly older than you and still on HRT. Had a couple of short breaks and symptoms came back quickly. My consultant (private) is fully supportive of older women using hrt and has patients in their 80s using it. Never any question of it being stopped at 60 and this isn't the case now- there is no upper age limit.

If necessary you should print off the guidance from the British Menopause Society (and probably NICE) stating there is no age limit. It's about management of symptoms. The only relevant factor is you shouldn't use tablet form of HRT as it does have a slightly higher clotting risk.
