I am early 50s and 3 years without my period. I feel my anxiety has increased lately and getting tight chest and shortened of breathing, waking up during the night, more tearful and low appetite.

I thought I was keeping things under control with magnesium, then Ashwaganda and excercise; but don’t know any longer. I did start taking coffee a few months ago to help with low energy in the afternoon. I am having a light one with milk now, otherwise I feel like going to bed.

Considering HRT, but a bit scare It can make it worse.

Also, will beta blockers help? DH take them for a heart condition and is very calm and under control; but not dure if that is also personality.

I started on Everol Sequi patches a couple of years ago and they changed everything for the better, they take up to 3 months to show all benefits but you improve week by week. Propranolol also work very well for me, I don’t feel how I did pre meno but a world away from how awful I felt at the start.

Thank you. I think I will ask the dr for the beta blockers first

Do you have a heart condition?
I don't think a doctor will just give you beta blockers for what you have described.
If hormones are the issue, then HRT will help.
Sounds like a good idea to see your doctor, if you have one who is well-informed (about the menopause and other issues), they will give you something that should help.

Evorel is a patch.

Maybe you're thinking of Oestrogel? That's estrogen as a gel to apply to your arms or thighs.

Yes, it works. But like any drug it can take a little while to get the right dose.

It's unlikely you will be prescribed a drug for high blood pressure or heart disease when your issues are menopause. Your GP shouldn't do that.

You need to discuss your symptoms with your doctor and they will likely suggest HRT. Beta blockers are for heart issues. You have anxiety and a lot of other symptoms , being post menopause.

Find out which GP at your practice is the best for menopause.

I’m on the gel and tablets. I’ve been on the patches too.
