Awful awful PMT post Mirena

I had PMDD for much of my life, thankfully the last few years it had relented a bit. I have endo/adenomyosis and am v sensitive to progesterone. Am on Evorel 75 (just come down from 100) and 12 days 200mg utrogestan orally (taking it vaginally caused recurrent thrush and infections).

Am in my last few days of utrogestan and feel horrific, literally suicidal/like running out on husband and kids. I have been offered a hysterectomy and this was a last ditch attempt to avoid (other health conditions likely to complicate recovery), I did ask if I could have oestrogen with regular monitoring but given I've had 3 womb cancer scares over there last 18 months they're not keen.

I don't get on with progesterone, had the same with the combined patches, various PoP, implant, mirena a couple of years ago, depo injection. All did similar. And trigger migraines

What am I missing? Is there anything else I can try? Been on HRT for 4 years, still having periods and main symptoms were vaginal/vulval dryness, hot flushes, lack of sleep, massive flare up Inn arthritis pain, brain fog and awful moods.

Help!?

I don’t get on with progesterone either. It’s meant to relax you but makes me overly anxious with low mood.
Im
going to ask the doctor for drydoprogesterone today. It protects the womb but apparently without the anxiety!

Ooh I didn't realise there was anything else, I thought utrogestan was meant to be the best. Thank you

I’ll let you know how I get on at the docs today!

So sorry you have had this situation to deal with OP. 💐
Following because also sensitive to progesterone (also terrible, terrible PMT back in the early 90s before PMDD was acknowledged). I had only 3 days of the progesterone tablets when I started HRT and had to knock them on the head as they made me feel so bleak.
Got a Mirena in the end and that seems to be just about ok apart from in the last week of my cycle, but I’m so interested to read about drydoprogesterone. When my Mirena expires I’ll look into that. Thanks @Lizzbear!

Hi all. Went to see the doc who asked why I still thought I needed HRT at 60, which is a fair question. I’ve been post-menopausal for 10 years now. I told him
I gbjughtvit would help with my mood and bone density etc.
He said I can’t have the drydoprogesterone separately to go with my patches but prescribed my a pill that contains oestrogen and dydrogestron. Femoston. Going to give it a go, but have just read low mood as a side effect! However some say it’s not as bad as other progesterone so I’m going to give it a go. I’ll report back.

Good luck, let me know how you get on @Lizzbear . I can't take oral oestrogen as I'm at high risk of clots sadly so I'll have to push on with the utrogestan for now.

Some use the progesterone tablets vaginally. Supposed to be topical rather than systemic.

I’m not happy about taking oral oestrogen either, Im
going to try it for few weeks and if it improves my mood, might go private to ask fir patches and separate drydoprogesterone, which is a bit much!
thanks, I’ll let you know how I get in!

I tried that and ended up with awful thrush and infections every month - vaginally is a big no sadly
