Early 40s. What dose of HRT, or none?

I'm on HRT for one symptom only, and wonder if it's right for me, or if I'm on the wrong dose.
It's not helped with that one symptom. My periods were as regular as clockwork before taking it.
Around the same time that I started on HRT, I developed an odd-feeling heart. Sometimes it pounds. Sometimes it flutters. But there's always an unusual sensation there. I'm very fit, but when I exercise now, my heart rate is elevated for hours and hours.
I've been through a stressful time, so it may just be that my nervous system is a bit sensitive. But does anyone recognise this as maybe my dose of HRT being incorrect?
I'm on 2 pumps of Oestrogel, and 200mg Utrogestan from days 14-28.
I'm in my early 40s.
I'm not sure if I should try more or less oestrogen, and how long to trial it for before I decide if it's improved my heart symptoms. I've been thoroughly checked out by the doctor and my heart is healthy, but they're clueless about HRT, despite being happy to prescribe it to me.

Did the GP suggest the stress might be causing the heart sensations?

If HRT was for one symptom, and hasn't improved it, then you could try without (speak to your GP first as with all medication).

What was the one symptom? Because that could be stress-related too.

Is there anything else you are on? I had a fluttering chest feeling for a long time before I worked out it was the salbutamol for my asthma. Several gp appointments and not once did they consider this as an option.

Im on 22mg of mirtazapine, but have been for over a year, so I'm confident its not that.

Honestly, I think I've over-advocated with the GP, because they always seem led by me.
My heart issues could still absolutely be caused by stress, but I've removed the main big stressor from my life (job) and feel genuinely calm and happy, but just cannot shake this feeling in my heart.
Perhaps I'm on HRT too early - again, at my insistence.

Estrogel caused racing heart type symptoms for me. I've been much better on patches.
If the HRT is for one symptom and it hasn't resolved it but it may be causing a new symptom, personally I would give it a break. What was the symptom that prompted you to start HRT?

Thanks, I think I'll try without.
I'm due to start the Utrogestan tablets this Friday. I wonder do I just stop now, or complete the cycle?
I started on it for insomnia, but I don't want any advice on insomnia, so would rather keep this thread about HRT.

Maybe just try it for a three month (?) trial? If you’re no better than stop and see if there’s any difference? I wonder if magnesium supplements at night might help.

Thanks, I think Im going to try without. I've been on hrt for a few months, so I've given it enough time.
As I've said above, I dont need advice on insomnia, just the HRT dose.

ChatGPT has suggested I decrease the Oestrogel now, but complete the Progesterone phase so that I dont confuse my body and screw up my cycle. That sounds sensible.
So as the GP's are lacking, I think I'll follow that advice!
