Can I change progesterone from night to morning dose mid cycle of taking them?

I currently take my Utrogestan vaginally at night (cyclically so halfway through my 12 days) and I’m thinking about changing it to the morning. Do we think it’s okay just to skip tonight dose and basically move it to tomorrow morning?

wasn’t sure if it had to be 24 hours apart, can’t see a reason it would be a problem

Utrogestan still made me sleepy even vaginally.

Also, your vaginal canal must be very tight, if i put something up there during the day when I would be standing and sitting, it would slide out again.

But I can feel my cervix by the end of the day so I might be unusual!

I don't think the timing matters though as long as its one a day.

I was advised bedtime too

Might be too late for you now @LimesGoddess but just to give a different perspective. I was advised (by consultant) that it's okay to use it vaginally during the day. (I've never tried in case it fell out.)

However, women who use it for fertility can use much more - like 3 times a day- and do that daytime and perhaps lie down if possible for 30 mins to help absorption.

Your original question, no it won't matter at all if you use it slightly earlier. The only issue is using it much later which may trigger some spotting.

Thanks everyone for your messages! I’ve never had a problem with the way I take it or any side effects before, but I had an accident two weeks ago and have quite bad concussion. That’s been screwing with my temperature for the last week (slightly mirroring when I started my progesterone, albeit possibly a few days later). What I have found is that about an hour after I’ve taken it and gone to bed, I feel like I’m burning up. It’s like the worst hot flush, my skin is burning hot all over and I’m shivering at the same time and it’s really unpleasant and lasts quite a good few hours.

Which has not helped the fact that I’m supposed to be getting lots of sleep and rest, so I’m wondering if instead of taking my dose tonight I knock it forward and take it
tomorrow morning instead.

That said I’ve only got tonight and tomorrow’s dose of this sequence anyway.

My GP is thoroughly confused by all of this, and whilst there is lots of evidence online that concussion can really hammer peri menopause and also just generally the menstrual cycle, they really don’t know what to do with me and I seem to be just having to struggle through this on my own (reduced my estrogen to help (longer story behind why that is 😂)

This may not help at all but Utrogestan has always made me very hot at night -it's the main side effect for me. All you can do is try it daytime.

Isn’t it weird, I’ve had literally no reaction to it for over a year and a half, but at the moment (whilst my brain isn’t regulating my temperature very well) every time I take the tablets my temperature goes up.

That is normal. I've discussed it with a consultant. After ovulation, when our progesterone kicks in, body temp rises. Same happens on an HRT cycle but some of us are more sensitive to it than others.

Thank you so much for sharing that and letting me know, maybe that’s what’s been happening for the last week and a half then and I’m just more sensitive to it right now that I usually am.

Let’s hope once this concussion passes that’s not my new normal - because crumbs have I had some interesting evenings, where I’ve woken up between one and three in the morning feel like I’m burning up with a fever and shivering and it’s just so strange, but by about 5 am it’s all passed and I can fall asleep.
