Removing the glue from HRT patches

Anyone got a way of doing this? Excess glue doesn’t seem to come off in the shower or bath unless I scrub so hard it hurts and I’m wondering if there’s an equivalent of WD40 for skin that will dissolve the glue left behind?

Just a bit of baby oil on a cotton wool pad and the glue comes off

Baby oil

Yep baby oil on cotton wool pads

Baby oil (it's also fab at shining chrome taps).

And taking off temporary tattoos and at home wax :)

I use the scrubby gloves in the shower.

Amazing thanks all. Only just changed to patches and scrubbing it off till I’m red raw is not fun!

You can also rub the removed patch on the area when you first take it off and it will mop up some excess (a bit like using blue tac to pick up more blue tac)

It is annoying though!

For baths, I've found you have to sit in them long enough for the adhesive to soften, then scrape off with the edge of a thumb-nail (ie. scrape, not scrub).

Eye make up remover works too. I switched to gel in the end because the black squares drove me up the wall.

Featherhorn · 13/04/2026 14:09

Glad you asked, I've a patchwork of small black squares!

saywhatdidhesay · 13/04/2026 14:11

I use eye make up remover, for waterproof mascara which is ok but still takes a bit of scrubbing!

Alcohol swab
