Came to post as I recently started HRT. I’m 41 and went to the GP with random symptoms but mostly anxiety, loss of driving confidence etc and people always post about bad experiences
She did enough blood tests that it printed out 2 sides of A4 “just in case”, then asked if I wanted patches or gel
i said gel but that I also need oral progesterone on top of my mirena if she could check the letter from gynae, she read it and said “yep, fine”
today I sent a text asking about oestrogen cream and got one back saying “prescribed, use for 4 weeks, ask if you want more or stop if you don’t”

after reading some stories about women being declined HRT, I was so shocked! It might be bragging if I mention they also do evening and weekend appointments

My GP the same Op but it does seem like we are very lucky!

I get four tubes of oestrogen cream a month for my vagina based on gynae request.

Never a quibble about anything and she practically threw it at me when I was 44.

@fairylightsanon Why do you need progesterone as well as the Mirena. Do you have some other condition (endo?) beyond just HRT?

i said gel but that I also need oral progesterone on top of my mirena if she could check the letter from gynae, she read it and said “yep, fine”

If the consultant suggested it your GP has to follow their guidance.

The Mirena is the progesterone part of HRT. It lasts for 4-5 years as part of HRT.
If women have endometriosis they may also need more progesterone.

My GP is the same, very kind and very clued up on menopause.

Yes, stage 4 deep infiltrating endo

But your GP was just following what the gynae said- she had no choice, really.

my previous GP surgery totally ignored a consultants letter and recommendation, 3 times so I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be followed
it was just nice that it was all so easy
