Stopping Evorel Conti after uterine thickening and fibroid referral

I had a scan that showed thickening of my uterus, an enlarged uterus, and something like a fibroid mass. I’ve been referred on the two week wait. I’m currently on Evorel Conti. I’m thinking of stopping it. I don’t want to wait to see the gynecologist as I don’t know how I g it will actually be. Especially with the Easter weekend. When stopping, do people taper it down by cutting the patches up?

I had something similar, had a scan to check for fibroids which showed an enlarged womb and when I got the results from that my GP told me to stop using the patches completely. I didn’t cut them at all just stopped straight away and it was fine.

I recently had a hysteroscopy to check things out more and the gynae there asked if I was still using the patches and seemed happy when I said my GP had told me to stop them when I had the scan results.

It might be worth giving your GP or the gynae department a call to see what they recommend though. It’s something they could probably advise over the phone rather than needing a face to face appointment for.

Your GP would usually advise on this @Mustardfan . There is a guidance 'plan' they can follow by the British Menopause Society. It depends on why you had a scan- was it for bleeding? Usually, the first step is to adjust HRT but it depends on why you've had one.

There is no rule about stopping HRT especially as you're using continuous combined. Two weeks will probably make little difference.

My advice is you need more information before your appt. They may choose to do a hysteroscopy on the day, so I'd be pushing your GP to find out who you're seeing and what the plan is.

I was on evorel conti for 8 years, I tried to come off it a year or so ago, reduced to a half patch and was fine. I then removed it completely and got some symptoms back so stuck to half a patch for a year.
I’ve recently stopped using it again and so far I’m actually feeling better than when I was on it. Long may it last 🤞🏻.
I hope all goes well with your referral.

I had the same thing- exactly- and didn't stop my HRT before the investigations.

What you have is very common and not an indication of anything sinister. They may do a biopsy just to be on the safe side.

I had a Mirena Coil fitted during a hysteroscopy under GA. I had been bleeding ( I assume you are too) and the coil stopped it. The bulky womb you have means you have more womb lining hence more tendency to bleed. They told me that I've probably always had a large womb, hence why my periods were always so painful.

I had tried stopping HRT a few months before to see if it was the HRT causing the bleeding and I had an enormous bleed and my symptoms came back with a vengeance, so I quickly started it again!
