HRT advice

I am two years post menopause and was on Evorel conti for 6 months. I felt fine and it helped to reduce my hot flushes and sleep problems down to a minimum. I was getting a few short bleeds now and again (one or two days light about once a month) so was told I could no longer stay on Evorel conti.

Three weeks ago they put me on progesterone capsules 100mg and Evorel 50mg patches. In that time I have had one severe migraine, I feel dizzy in the mornings, I have restless legs at night and I am feeling a little more tearful/down. I have read up about progesterone intolerance and it sounds similar but it also says it decreases after 3-6 months.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice? I was quite happy on the Evorel conti and would much rather use that. Should l go back to the GP or just wait and see if it gets any better? I feel like coming off it all!

Evorel conti has an artificial progesterone in it, so you could try swapping the Utrogestan for, eg Provera or a coil to see if that's any better.

It could also be that you need to increase your oestrogen dose. My symptoms kept increasing/changing even up to 5 years post menopause. They weren't alleviated until I was on 100 patch.

You could use the Utrogestan vaginally, or try a coil instead. Presuming it’s the change in progesterone that’s causing the migraine that is.

I'm not sure what caused the migraine but it was the onset was faster and it was more severe than any I have had before and seems a coincidence that I started the new medication just before. I checked the progesterone I'm on and it is micronised and not synthetic
