Does anyone else struggle with this? My mouth and throat get so dry. Having some mild success with dry mouth mouthwash. Thinking of a humidifier. Anyone else got any tips? Wondering if it will improve on my next dosage increase of evorel. Thank you.

I suffer terribly with this. I sailed through the menopause, but once I was in my 60's I became constantly thirsty, like a raging thirst. I measured my intake and it was around 4.5 litres a day - but I was still thirsty on that. The GP put me on HRT, saying that 'everything has dried up'. It has helped marginally - I measured my intake recently and it was 3.8 litres. I wish I had a solution that didn't involve me needing to wee every 40 minutes.

Oh no that sounds rough, have you had your blood sugars checked?

Yes and they were really good, which is one thing less to worry about.

This is my most troublesome symptom! I have to some extent got used to it, I’ve been suffering for about 5yrs now. Sometimes it’s a real burning sensation not just dry. It’s so so irritating, hard to describe how bad to anyone thats not experienced it.
GP has suggested it could possibly be Sjorgens syndrome as that mimics menopause symptoms but also added there’s no treatment only things to ease the symptoms so didn’t seem keen to pursue that!

I use gels, Biotene toothpaste/mouth wash, Oralive spray, xylitol tablets which stick to your gums and produce saliva. Theres quite a few products out there - have a look on amazon. They all help, but don’t cure! Drink loads of water, avoid caffeine.
I find it flares up and then I’ll realise it’d been not so bad for a few weeks previously.
HRT maybe helps, hard to say. It defo eased my aching joints though.

Thank you! I’ll have a look at these. Some of these popped up on my internet travels today. When you say about caffeine, did it make it worse for you?

I’m not sure for me - but I’ve been told by dentist/dr to avoid or limit caffeine.
I do have a tea first thing but no cola or coffee or anything like that.
I do think it’s hormones for me as it ebbs and flows in its severity. At its worst really burning, like I’m chewing a chilli. Just a bit dry at its best. Spicy food definitely annoys it! Ice cream/yogurt/ ice cubes help.
Really important to keep your dentist and hygienist appointments regularly- no saliva can cause awful problems. Hope you find some of the products help.

For anyone suffering with this please have a google of Sjögren’s syndrome. It’s very under diagnosed and is very common in menopausal women. (I have it and lupus which it often overlaps with).
