Feeling more anxious on micronised progesterone tablets

I’ve been feeling anxious for a few months over everything. Stopped my Evorel conte patches because I read that some women react badly to artificial progesterone.
Ive now upped my oestrogen patch to 75mg and am on oral progesterone (micronised)
I feel really bad with my anxiety now. Rafter a couple of weeks.
Have removed my oestrogen patch and not going to take anymore progesterone for a few days to see if it’s this that’s causing the anxiety. I’m also on 50mg of Sertraline.
Anyines else had terrible reactions to micronised progesterone?
I actually started using it vaginally but still v anxious.

I'm sorry to hear this, it sounds as though you are very sensitive to the progesterone. I was given oral 100mg utrogestan tablets with 75 evorel patch and I reacted negatively to the utrogestan tablet almost immediately (e.g. I took tablet at night & woke up within 2 hours of taking it, gave me palpitations, nausea, anxiety until it wore off next day late afternoon). I seem to be intolerant to progesterone. I was advised to insert it vaginally, and now have no side effects. Are you taking 100 or 200 progesterone? When i spoke to a doctor at the time about progesterone sensitivity i think they did also mention the mirena coil as another alternative as this is meant to have even less side effect if you are sensitive to progesterone (maybe someone here has tried the coil and can let you know their experience) x

Hi. Thanks for your response.
i am going to ask the doctor on Friday for the mirena coil. I woke up anxious and covered in sweat after taking the oral progesterone.
When I inserted it vaginally it was still bad.
I just hope I don’t get a reaction with the coil as I really do want to keep taking the oestrogen x

How long did you use it vaginally for? You might have needed more time for your system to calm down on it.
I had an extreme mood response to the oral progesterone so I’ve been advised to try it vaginally.
I haven’t tried the Mirena but a friend has it and doesn’t have mood effects on it, whereas she did on oral progesterone.

Thanks for your reply. Itryed it further about a week orally then a week or so vagubslky. You might be right about not giving it long enough for the effects to fade!
