Coil slipped while on HRT: replace it or switch to tablets?

Ladies, may I have your thoughts on this please?

I'll be 55 in September.

I had the coil fitted a couple of years ago and have been taking estrogel alongside this for my HRT.

No problems until a routine scan picked up that my coil had dropped down slightly so was out of position. Doc prescribed me progesterone just in case the coil wasn't doing its job and I've got an appointment in June to have existing coil removed and a new one fitted.

The problem is that I think I'm going to be worrying all the time that this new coil will drop out of position as well at some point. How would I know if I don't get scanned regularly?!

I'm now in the position where I'm used to taking progesterone tablets so I'm wondering whether to just get it removed and not have it replaced at all.

I am single, I don't have an active sex life. The main reason for getting the coil fitted in the first place was because I had heavy bleeding. This may or may not have changed since I had it fitted. But I've obviously no way of knowing.

I definitely don't miss the bleeding. I'm quite active - I do yoga everyday, strength training twice a week and cold dip regularly. So bleeding would be annoying if it started again.

What would you do? Get a new one fitted and just hope it stays in place this time?! Or just get existing one removed?

Personally, I’d get it replaced as it's just a fit and forget. I can’t be bothered with having to remember to take a pill every day, not to mention having to remember to re-order and collect before they run out.
You might get some bleeding with a new coil, but it should only be for a short time. Women do all kinds of activities when they are having a period so I don’t see why it would interfere with what you are doing; you could use tampons or a mooncup.
