If you have symptoms of peri menopause, your GP should prescribe HRT.
You have to be a bit pushy and say you want to try HRT.

Unless your GP has sound medical reasons why you can't take HRT( with severe contraindications) it's your own choice to try it for symptoms.

Low Vit D is not a reason to withhold HRT!

I used sage, it was brilliant for stopping hot flushes. I found the highest strength I could and took them daily. They worked wonderfully for two years then just suddenly stopped working. I went to see my GP who wouldn’t give me HRT because of my families medical history. She did prescribe a migraine tablet whose side effects stopped the hot flushes. They worked. Hope you find some relief.

Make sure you can actually takes these despite being otc items. I can't have red clover because I've previously had a blood clot.

If you're low in Vitamin D you need to be taking at least 3,000 iu with Vitamin K. Since Vit D is a fat soluble vitamin you also need to eat something with fat at the same time ( best with evening meal). What strength are you taking at the moment?

I think it took about a week or so. Well worth it for the relief it gave me.

It's worth knowing that the BMS puts the placebo effect of herbs etc at 40% (this is all online in their report on 'alternatives to HRT'.)

Symptoms come and go during peri and some 'success' with herbs etc is a natural variation on peri symptoms.

The actual true efficacy of herbs is very low (again in their report based on studies) and even if the herbs work, you're not getting the other benefits of HRT such as bone loss protection and a reduction in heart disease.

Herbs are all very well for women who can't use HRT but it's trial and error and some even have side effects which can be quite serious .

This^ I've been taking sage for a while now and thought it had stopped my flushes almost completely. Sadly they are back and I'm wondering if it was that they had just waned naturally for a while. They are a bit less severe though.

Didn't get on with hrt, estrogen made my restless legs unbearable even at the lowest dose in both tablets and patches.
