I’m 55 and just had sex with my new boyfriend after 5 years of no sex. Last time I was still having periods. Just very concerned about my vagina coping with all the sex that goes on at the start of a new relationship, New boyfriend loves having sex.
I didn’t use any lubricant or moisturiser and am not on any HRT. I decided to give it a try without any assistance. Sex was fine, and I was wet enough just, but there was a small amount of blood and so I must have had a small tear. I’m a little bit sore but there is no more bleeding, so minor.
i didn’t experience the same satisfaction that I used to, but was enjoyable. Will definitely need to use lubricant for prolonged sex. He’s the same age as me and likes long sessions in bed. I loved this years ago when my vaginal was up to it,
im wondering if I should take vaginal eastrogen and what experience other women have had ?
Will this make it easier for my vagina to cope with lots of sex? Will it make sex more pleasurable and enjoyable ? Have people had side effects? Is a vaginal moisturiser just as good ?
Ive got a week before we try again and ive got the vaginal eastrogen so I could start it.
Around a month ago I experienced an itchy dry vagina for the first time. Now I feel well lubricated because im spending more time with the new man.
has anyone else had experience they can share on this, thanks

The female condom can help with sensitive skin postmenopause.

You can buy vaginal oestrogen from your local chemist and online chemists without prescription.

It does make sex a lot easier. I take it now for a narrowed urethra which was making it take a long time to pee!

I use one called Gina.

Similar situation here - a long time without sex & a lovely new boyfriend!

I’m using 10mg vagifem on prescription but still experiencing dryness.

I might ask my GP for a moisturiser, or try oestrogen cream in addition.

I’ve also found it’s slower to get aroused & harder to climax. Bloody menopause!

You can buy some online without a prescription and I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. It made things a lot better for me. It doesn’t work straight away though. You need to use it consistently for a few months and keep using it.

The Gina is a pessary that you use internally BTW if that wasn’t obvious. That is more effective than an external cream.
