Utrogestan and anxiety

Hi, I switched from sequential to continuous hrt a while back and have noticed an increase in anxiety. Wondering if this is linked to taking utrogestan every night, and whether anyone else has experienced this? Also wondering what the right dose of utrogestan is for two pumps oestrogel? I am currently on three pumps and 200 mg - wondering whether I can go down to 100 mg if I reduce to two pumps? TIA

You don't necessarily need 200mgs with 3 pumps of gel.

I think some GPs have interpreted the guidance in a black and white way.
The BMS guidance on HRT/ endometrial protection is online - it's easy to find it- and they say is 'consider' increasing for higher doses of estrogen. That usually means if you have spotting and it's not controlling the womb lining.

Women absorb estrogen very differently, so not all women need to increase progesterone.

Also, it's not mandatory to move to continuous. There are pros and cons with each regime. Again, there is a 'blanket' approach to this partly to suit the majority of women, but staying on sequential is possible . Individualised prescribing is possible although sadly most GP aren't experienced and will just follow the guidance to the letter.

I thought Utrogestan was supposed to make you relaxed and jolly! Currently thinking of switching to continuous to see if it helps my sleep. Sorry OP not much help there. I do find propranolol very helpful for the somatic anxiety I sometimes get due to menopause.

I don't think anyone finds micronised progesterone makes them jolly! It puts your body into the PMS part of a natural cycle. It is a sedative and some women finds it makes them sleep better. But it can also cause lots of not too nice side effects- it's love or hate.

Thank you that is really helpful
