Could this be perimenopause?

I’m 37 - since the age of 17 (other than TTC and being pregnant with my 2 DC) I’ve been on some form of contraception.

in September 2024 I really struggled with my physical health and anxiety, so I had my Mirena coil removed just in case it was the culprit (I’d had it in a couple of years)

My first few periods after removal were relatively normal for me, then they have gradually got lighter and lighter. I’ve gone from 5 days of bleeding having to change pads 2-3 times a day to not having need to change a pad. The blood is also brown other than when I go for a wee. some periods I only get maybe 2 days of “decent” flow.

The pain in the lead up to my period now about a week before is awful, last month it was like labour pain! I also get awful what feels like pregnancy nausea, bloating, and as soon as I ovulate I start with night sweats and temperature issues. I also really struggle to find words all month round.

could this be perimenopause?

No.

Why? It can start from 35. Perimenopause can last 10 years.

Yes op it does sound like some perimenopause symptoms but have other issues ruled out first such as thyroid and deficiency tests first.

Before considering perimenopause, perhaps see your GP and rule out anything else first, and get checked for endometriosis or something like that.

Your symptoms don't sound all that much like peri to me; not like the rotten symptoms I had anyway.

It affects everyone differently due to the different systems affected.
