‘Period’ timing on cyclical hrt

just finishing my second month and going reasonably ok I think. A few weird things (a blip
in migraines, nightmares/vivid dreams) but generally I am feeling a bit more myself and sleeping massively better.

what I don’t get is the pattern to bleeding. I know it’s a wholly artificial cycle so I was expecting to have my ‘period’ when I stopped the progesterone patches. But both months so far I’ve started it 11 days after I have started the progesterone. So have 1 more patch to go. Oddly this matches my old cycle where I had a fairly short luteal phase (had fertility issues and a very regular cycle so I knew it really well). It’s also properly period like - crampy, clots, heavy for me although still not that heavy.

is this ok? It feels fine tbh, like periods I’m used to. It’s just not the timing I was expecting. Have tried to google but everything seems to suggest you either get it when the progesterone drops where mine hasn’t yet or it’s break through bleeding which this isn’t - it’s the full withdrawal bleed.

Far from expert....but similar happens to me on maybe half my HRT cycles. My Dr is just completely unbothered by it. She has a special interest in menopause and is generally great on the subject, so I suppose I haven't worried because she hasn't.

I have this - always around day 11. Have been told not to worry about it

Ah lovely - thanks both. I actually quite like it as it feels
like what I’m used to iyswim. Will mention to my gp at my review meeting but pleased it’s not just me.

Mine took a long time to fall into the rhythm of coming after stopping the progesterone. I did have my progesterone increased in that time but that was to balance an increase in estrogen. The increase did seem to coincide with the progesterone going up though.

This has just happened to me again, although this time much earlier, day 4 of ultrogestan. I'm certain it's my own hormones which did it, as for a couple of weeks prior to getting to the progesterone section of the hrt cycle, I had all the classic symptoms of my old natural cycle (ovulation pain, then sore breasts and drop in libido, then cramps).

I don't think I'm worried (because of all the symptoms strongly pointing to this being hormonally caused) but I do wonder if it's going to be weird continuing to take the ultrogestan for the full 12 days, which the internet insists I must do.

@NeonSigns I am taking the win - it makes me sleep like a log, I have just finished my bleed and I can have a lie in tomorrow. I plan on curling up like a dormouse I tell you…..
