Supplements and vitamins

I'm 48 and aside from being overweight I am in generally good health. No conditions, or issues, don't take any medication. I'm starting to get mild menopause/age related symptoms but nothing that causes me any real concern. Some brain fog, tiredness, occasional sleep disruption.

I don't currently take any vitamins or supplements but hear A LOT on here, on SM and IRL about people taking various things to help keep their energy levels up and improve concentration and I think it might be time.

What supplements and vitamins do you take in peri-menopause that i can look in to please. I don't know anything about this so any advice would be great.

I'm not asking for advice about HRT, I know that may come in time but for now just over the counter thanks.

I take vitamin B complex for energy.
Magnesium glycinate at night for sleep, but before I needed that I took magnesium L threonate for brain fog ( then I went on HRT so didn’t need it).
A good quality omega 3 for joint pain and aches.
D3 with K2 for bones.
I prefer single need supplements rather than the one fits all that you can buy.
Also, I had a mirena coil fitted for increasingly heavy and frequent periods that caused anaemia, and I wish I’d had it years earlier, so keep an eye on your periods.

Thanks. I was hoping for a "one pill cures all" kind of solution but I guess that's less likely to be effective overall. Do they work? It seems a like we are such easy prey for snake oil salesmen and I'm reluctant to pay good money for negligible benefits.

Interesting re Mirena. I can't take hormonal contraception, tried a few post-kids and they all made me very depressed so I used to have a copper coil but my periods are increasingly heavy and fairly debilitating for a couple of days a month currently.

I've been taking Menopace, despite not being a big believer in supplements, and it has definitely helped with the hot flushes. They're not completely gone, but they're less severe, so I'm more able to sleep through them. And my hair is not falling out as much as it was before. NB do shop around, it's often cheaper on Amazon or Ocado than on their own website.

No change on the brain fog, though, I seem to get more dopey every day.

Omega 3 definitely helped me, before that I was on cod liver oil, but I noticed the difference with omega 3.
Mirena is a very low and continuous dose of progesterone, and people who can’t tolerate tablets often opt for it. You could do a thread for opinion if you were interested.
Ive actually noticed brain fog creeping back in ( but I am under a lot of stress at the moment) so I’m going to swap back to L-threonate to see if it helps.
I’ve never had hot flushes so can’t help with those.
