And did you have any success?

Yep.
I started with a little stress incontinence 5 years after surgical menopause, despite doing daily pelvic floor exercises for the last 30 years!
I started using Ovesse last summer and things seem fine now, although I’m always nervous if I have a cold/chest infection and end up coughing a lot. Everything feels a lot better in general using the oestrogen. I’ve seen advice from an OB/GYN to not put it in too high up in the vagina and to rub a little over the urethra and vagina entrance to help with genitourinary syndrome of menopause and this is working really well for me.
I do get a bit cross that it’s so expensive, but after the initial application stage a tube lasts 11 ish weeks so the cost per usage is actually pretty low for the general improvement in comfort I feel, and as a preventative to developing further problems, it’s well worth using even if it doesn’t remove the stress incontinence.

Do you also do pelvic floor exercises?

PersephoneParlormaid · 22/01/2026 20:59

Yes, I do them and make no progress. I’ve done them for years. I’m under the continence service but they just want to refer me even though I don’t want surgery.
i have no problem with dry vagina so I’m not sure if oestrogen will help.

Yes estriol cream and it a great help. If I forget to use it I soon know about it.

Thanks for your replies, I’ll give it a go.

The HRT prepay certificate covers Ovesse and other creams , it’s only £19.80 for 12 months , so might be a better option cost wise .

@YouDriveMeCrazyButICanDoThatMyself Aren't you getting it on prescription from your GP- are you in the UK?
No need to pay £20 a tube.

Wonderknicks · 23/01/2026 09:17

I get 4 tubes prescribed on one prescription, which lasts me months.

YouDriveMeCrazyButICanDoThatMyself · 24/01/2026 05:33

I just don’t have the chance to go to the Drs to ask for it on prescription. I leave for work at 7am & don’t get back until 6:30.
I will make it my mission when I next book time off to book an appointment to see if I can have it on prescription.

Can you take time off work for a medical appt? Go into work later or leave earlier?

Does your GP do on line triage? You could put in a request & I bet they'd prescribe it for you. Ours would call to speak but I'm certain they'd do it without seeing you (mine did although it was during COVID).

Scarlettpixie · 28/01/2026 14:32

I did an e-consult with my GP this morning and they have already prescribed the vaginal oestrogen (vagifem) I asked for. Is that an option for you?
