Does progesterone help with insomnia?

had trouble sleeping perimenopause, am now 5 years post menopause and still have trouble sleeping. It affects my life, had to give up the day job as can’t get up in the morning.

I usually take progesterone for 12 days a month. Should I be on more? Should I take it contuinously and up the dose.

ive been relying on sleeping tablets for years, I really need to stop these.

I would think you should be on continuous progesterone if your periods have stopped, if you still have your womb.
i started on HRT 18 months ago (I’m 68), as I’d suffered with hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia etc etc since I was 43. As soon as I started on the progesterone my sleep improved a lot (not so much now but that’s due to my husband passing away last August, and life in general at the moment is different)
I’d see your menopause nurse at your GP surgery to see about reviewing your HRT regime.

Yes helped me a great deal. Once I’m asleep I’m asleep when on progesterone. I think I sleep deeper on it.

When I was on the tablets I found progesterone wonderful. A lot of women can’t tolerate it as part of HRT but it gave me a lovely, sleepy, calm feeling, like a little dose of Valium. Sadly has not had the same effect since I moved onto patches (for other reasons).
