Muzzy head with perimenopause?

teentoddlermum · 10/01/2026 17:46

I’m wondering wether I could be entering perimenopause

I have a GP appointment next week to discuss but doing some research

my main symptom although not the first one I had is a persistent muzzy head - it’s awful

last few months I’ve been out of sorts, irritable, brain fog, all on a daily basis. It’s kind of crept up and since nov I feel so ill like I’m always on edge

I’m 43, when I mentioned this to my consultant for my thyroid he literally laughed out loud - I’m currently having eye issues and had dry eye diagnosed in December so that’s getting me down - the secretary on the other hand said it’s worth talking to my GP about HRT

I find myself staying at home and feeling low lately and it’s making me miss the old me - hoping my GP can help

thanks for reading you 🙏

No idea OP but I have it too. I also have other things so it could be connected to them.

So I'll just bump your thread instead and wish you good luck at the GP.

'I’m 43, when I mentioned this to my consultant for my thyroid he literally laughed out loud'

Well what a wanker 🙄

Yes, all of the above could be signs of perimenopause and no, you're not too young. Great idea to do your own research before seeing your GP

Thank you, what do you have ? All that I do? It’s horrible isn’t it. What investigations if any have you tried and how long have your symptoms been there? I will certainly update after the GP visit incase this helps you and others

I know right?! Luckily I’ve persisted and I’m not going to give up

Try a perimenopause support supplement, helped me loads with the symptoms you describe.

LuubyLuu · 10/01/2026 20:22

Brain fog and aching joints were the first symptoms for me, came on at 45. They were also the first symptoms to be relieved by HRT so definitely worth exploring. There’s checklists of symptoms online, if you go in to your doctors with that list it would be helpful.

Livedandlearned · 10/01/2026 20:22

I can post a link but I’m sure they all have similar ingredients.

Brain fog
Joint and muscle pains
Insomnia
Dry eyes and throat
Fatigue (as well as Insomnia - fun)
Muzzyhead fits better than dizziness, but basically I feel out of it and lopsided

Many other symptoms but they are the main ones. I'm menopausal with lupus and sjorgens. No idea which causes what or if they take it in turns.

ILoveVitaminSea · 11/01/2026 12:32

Yep, although started at 39/40 for me with peripheral neuropathy type symptoms and fatigue then brain fog and anxiety out of nowhere. I started HRT at 41.

What’s with the pushing of supplements, expensive waste of time in my experience. The only supplement useful with brain fog during perimenopause backed by science is creatine.

In your experience a supplement hasn’t worked. In mine it has and so I’m sharing that info with someone who has similar symptoms to me.
