I'm 47. Been single for the last 5 years but lack of sex driver on my part for several years before that, was partly the reason for the split.

Anyway, I've had the contraceptive implant in my arm for the last 10 odd years, after I had my youngest DD who's now 13. This caused my periods to stop. I literally have not had a period in all that time.

Now obviously I don't need it for contraception purposes any more. I have just always preferred not to have the painful hassles that come with periods.
The implants are supposed to be replaced every 3 years. But the current one I have is over due by more than a year. But I still have not had a period or any sign of one.
Question 1, is that normal?

Question 2, How will this long term contraceptive effect menopause for me?

I have asked these questions of my GP surgery, but they have just referred me to the sexual health clinic, for which I have to wait weeks for a consult. (One of the reasons the implant is so overdue this time)
Thanks

Having a contraceptive implant (or taking the pill) is like putting your body in chemical menopause. I’m not sure there is a ‘normal’ with this kind of thing. But it sounds like you could already be in menopause by definition, as you still haven’t had a period. The only way you can tell for certain is by having the implant completely removed and then seeing what happens next alongside having your hormone level levels measured
