Hi, is there a type of oil should you take for menopausal aching? I have tried evening primrose but it doesn't seem to do anything. thanks.

What sort of aching?

WarriorN · 30/11/2025 09:08

Where are the aches and what time do they most occur?

BooseysMom · 30/11/2025 11:59

Thanks for responding. They are worse in the mornings upon waking. They are all over my body. I have tried hrt but it didn't help and I gave it a year on patches and gel. The aching was the same throughout. I gave up as when they increased my patches I felt horrendous and had very sore painful breasts as I'm sensitive to oestrogen

Have you tried magnesium spray? Or Epsom salt baths (also magnesium)

my other suggestion would be to find some good mobility exercises to do first thing and last thing before bed. Perhaps a physio? Or a yoga routine

gentle exercise such as swimming, even if you’re just treading water, and maybe with a sauna

a few menopausal books I’ve read do say to get a decent high protein breakfast in with around 30g protein

if these things don’t work I’d see gp to check for other things

Oh that's really helpful thanks 😊 I did try magnesium capsules but they didn't work. My DH has the bath salts so will try those. I used to do pilates but couldn't carry on and that's a big problem as it's hard to find the time to fit it in

Low vitamin D can also cause aching in joints and bones. Get your levels checked by your GP and take supplements. Took me about four months to feel better, my Vit D was on the floor
