How do I delay my period while taking sequential HRT

I am 46, perimenopausal and want to reliably delay my period for 10 days or so while I am on vacation next month. I apply estrogen sachet 1g every day and take utrogestan on days 15 to 25.

I usually start bleeding on day 22 or 23 of my cycle ie even before I have finished the utrogestan dose. This may indicate I need to amend my meds? Dont know.

What should I ask my GP for to be able to delay my period by 10 days? I used norethisterone for this in my 30s but I believe GPs won't prescribe it since it increases the risk of blood clots along with HRT. There is provera which I haven't tried before. If either of these, do I take them along with the utrogestan?

Or can I reliably delay my cycle by delaying utrogestan? Thank you.

Hi, your cycle starting whilst still in the Utrogestan phase would indicate that your own hormones are still in charge, probs as you're only 46. You don't have to amend your meds but if you're still very regular you could just shift when you take the Utrogestan to match your natural cycle. You will need Norethisterone or something similar to delay your periods.

Thanks, @TheresAlwaysMoortoSea
For relevant days do I need to take norethisterone as well as utrogestan? Or stop the utrogestan when I start norethisterone? My GP was vague when I spoke to her but she was willing to prescribe provera and not norethisterone because of some increased clotting risk. Thanks

I'm on sequential hrt - patches and then ultrogestan for 12 days per month. I delayed the ultrogestan by a few days for 2 months in a row in order to shift the timing of a period away from a holiday.

To make this work of you're on the sequi patches I guess you'd need extra of the estrogen only patches?

I reasoned this was probably ok to do once in a while. I also sometimes have the withdrawal bleed before the end the progesterone course but my Dr doesn't think this is an issue.

The OP is on oral Utrogestan. Her period is 'ignoring' the Utrogestan anyway so shifting it won't shift her periods. @Perihols that's weird your GP didn't say what to do? It's a stronger progestin than Utrogestan so I wouldn't take both on the same day as I'm sensitive to progesterone anyway, but I'm not an expert!

Ah my mistake about the ultrogestan!

However I also thought my natural cycle was overriding the hrt cycle but actually when I did this experiment with shifting the pattern slightly I also shifted my withdrawal bleed. I think there must be a different reason I have the bleed often a couple of days before the ultrogestan cycle finishes.
