Feeling dizzy/faint - anyone else had this? Drop in blood pressure?

About a year ago I had a couple of episodes of suddenly feeling a bit faint. It was a really odd feeling and I actually went to A&E on one occasion. Nothing showed up.

A few days ago I had this happen again and googling suggests it was a drop in blood pressure. I am in the throes of menopause and I wondered whether it could be related to that?

Get yourself a blood pressure monitor - they are not expensive. It's not a bad idea to record your blood pressure for a bit to see what is going on.
Keep a diary - of when you feel faint - what position are you at? Getting up? Sitting? Walking? Hungry? Or after food? Any other symptoms - headache? etc.
If you are just getting dizzy after getting up - it's not unusual. But if it's something else - your diary can help your doctor to try to see what's up.

There are numerous possible causes for dizziness and I've had several of them.

An inner ear problem is a common one.

Cardiovascular issues are also a possibility., as are neurological problems.

Have you see a GP?

And what is your dizziness like - spinning or wooziness? and when does it happen?

Sorry you are experiencing this op, it sounds awful.

Did you have a follow up gp visit after you went to A&E? If not, I think you should go and get a full blood panel done.

I have no medical qualifications whatsoever but I have gone through menopause. I experienced dizziness which is definitely a symptom of menopause. But I didn’t think low blood pressure was? Unless you feel faint bc of the heat of hot flushes? But I could be wrong!

Presumably A&E checked your heart?

What about blood sugar dips?

As pp suggested, a diary might help you see a pattern, if it happens after meals, or after exercise etc?

Hope you can get it sorted.

I had a feeling of faintness due to heart palpitations which stopped when I started taking HRT

Thanks for all your replies. Perhaps I should get a blood pressure monitor and also follow up with my gp.

Get it checked. Not menopausal but can suffer from low blood pressure and low blood sugar. For me if I still feel weird lying on back it’s low blood pressure. I have to sit up or go on side. If you feel slightly better lying down then you need a square of toast asap.

Is your heart rate regular. Check your pulse.
