Hot flushes after eating?!

I've been struggling with them during the night for the last few months, but they've started in the daytime in the last 3 or 4 weeks. Not sure if its a coincidence but it generally seems to be within 30 mins or so of eating, only lasts a minute or two but its so odd!

Is it after hot food? In which case it raises your core temperature and can kick off a flush? I get these, also after a cup of tea. HRT has reduced them considerably.

@MotherOfCatBoy that is a very good question, I hadnt noticed if there was a difference if its hot or cold food. I will monitor it tomorrow to see. I have tried HRT twice in the last 3 years but it made me feel significantly worse rather than better sadly.

The other trigger I seem to have is if I wrap up (say under a blanket or wearing a jumper), instead of getting gradually warmer like I used to, I'll be a normal temp, then all of a sudden massively overheated. Its like my thermostat is broken!

Yup, I recognise that too. Sounds normal. Doesn’t mean you have to put up with it though.
Do be aware that new drugs have recently been developed to cope with hot flushes that aren’t HRT, ie no hormones. Not sure if they are licensed in the UK but they have recently been in the US. Maybe worth a bit of googling and speak to your GP.

Yes yes yes. Mine is only in the morning though. Hot tea or a cooked breakfast and I’m going to stand outside in the cold to cool down. I don’t get it any other time of day. Just the morning.

I went through a phase of waking up to a hot flush. I eventually figured out that coming up from sleep means elevated adrenalin and cortisol levels, body waking up, boom, hot flush! Was v annoying before I went on HRT because I always felt stressed first thing.

I still occasionally get them if I am in a warm environment or do something like go for a walk and then come indoors, or walk uphill - anything that will push your temperature up - but I used to get them all day long and that’s gone, and I can exercise without feeling like a tomato 😳

I get this too sometimes, especially after carbs or spicy food. Feels like a mini hot flash that fades quick.
