Seriously, has anybody who uses these come up with a method of removing the stick residue that’s left behind when you remove the patch ?

I’m only asking those who have used them because people who haven’t used them have no idea what a complete bugger it is to remove. I’ve scrubbed my arse red raw again today and still haven’t got it all off Confused

Wipes from Amazon are about as un environmentally friendly as you can get.

I've found the best way is to rub it with the sticky side of the patch that I've just taken off.

This
It doesn't appear to be working for the first 10 or so wipes, then balls of 'glue' start to form and drop off.

I have baths, scrub at it. I wonder if it’s because I wear. Iron pants rather than the shiny ones?

Gotta ask, what are Iron pants?!
(I mean, I don't wear shiny pants so I may be in the iron club already but it would be nice to know)

I use strong nail varnish remover on a cotton wool pad and it comes off fine.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 01/11/2025 16:41

I got some wipes off amazon. But I only use them when I'm going on holiday. Couldnt care less the rest of the time. It doesn't affect absorbing the oestrogen if I put a patch over the black residue.

SheinIsShite · 01/11/2025 16:42

i'm also really not that bothered by the sticky residue. Always well covered by clothing.

Yesitismeandiamcomingforyou · 01/11/2025 16:53

Ah ha, I used my chemistry knowledge for this!

To get the patches to stick and last, I clean the area with IPA (isopropyl alcohol, available from Amazon) and kitchen roll and let it dry. Then apply the patch, hold and warm for a few seconds. The important part for me is to use a clear (no pad in middle) Tegaderm patch, slightly bigger than the Evorel over the top. The Tegaderm is very flexible and stops the Evorel from getting water under it or curling up.
Then to remove, after peeling the two patches off together, I use another piece of kitchen roll and some IPA which completely removes and remaining sticky bits. Using the Tegaderm seems to help reduce the sticky residue too.

Baby oil with a cotton pad.

Musicaltheatremum · 01/11/2025 17:30

I never bother. Just slap one on the other side and leave the residue to come off. 🤷

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 01/11/2025 17:34

Easy peasy, a cotton pad with baby oil works like a dream for me. I had given up on patches previously as I’d ended up a patchy, sticky mess but I’ve not looked back since I saw baby oil recommended. ☺️

rainbowsandcloudyskies · 01/11/2025 18:34

Zoff wipes or any medical adhesive remover wipes.

Gingerwarthog · 01/11/2025 18:35

Yup - baby oil on a cotton pad here too

watchingplanesicantafford · 01/11/2025 18:41

I use hair oil, takes it off like magic

SallyAny · 01/11/2025 18:46

Any dry oil spray

Smith and Nephew Remove Adhesive Remover Wipes 403100, 50-count : Amazon.co.uk: Health & Personal Care https://share.google/v8txJbJUoh5ObSXtb

I never have any residue.

I use these too. I’m lazy and/or a cheapskate 🤣 and only remove the marks once a week, and one wipe is enough to remove both.

They are quite wet, I don’t unfold the wipe, I wipe over both patch marks leave a few seconds to soak in and do its stuff then it wipes off really easily. No irritation.

WeekendInNewEngland · 01/11/2025 19:42

I’m really surprised so many of you have this issue? I use a bit of baby oil with cotton wool/loo roll and it comes straight off for me.

Blushingm · 01/11/2025 19:44

Medical adhesive removal spray

Interpink · 01/11/2025 19:45

I got this stuff and it REALLY works. The trick is to leave the spray in place for a good minute, then rub with the rough side of the pad they send, or the corner of a towel. it is called Nudi Spray.

Hot shower
Apply baby oil using a cotton wool pad
Leave 2-3 minutes
Wipe off with the pad

Sometimes it is more satisfying to pick it off though.

CraftyOldBat · 02/11/2025 12:03

Thanks for all the replies, I will work through them with each new patch and come back on to report !

Ha, I agree - they’re a nightmare! I have those little alcohol wipes and they work a treat.
