No period a week after utrogestan worried!

worried as I’m usually very regular and shouldn’t my linings be shedding? Have had full on period symptoms bar the bleeding for a week. I also recently started using Testogel in small amounts so wondering if there’s a link here. Period usually comes as end or just after 12 days of utrogestan. Been 1.5 years of HRT now. Should I be calling gp?

It's fine, utrogestan is a form of progesterone and it's role is to thin the endometrium, so the uterine lining but it also provides uterine protection. Initially you often bleed as the uteogestan is getting to work. But over time the uterus lining often gets so thin, there's little or nothing to shed - so your period can stop completely or be a lot shorter. So you may still have it but it may come in a few days and be shorter etc.

This is why HRT protects your uterus, as it protects from endometrial hyperplasia which can often happen more at this age as progesterone drops sharply, and sometimes you have still quite a bit of oestrogen. This is a higher risk in menopausal women and women with PCOS etc.

So your period not happening is nothing to worry about, and show it's working, it's different to your periods not happening naturally (apart from menopause happening, which normally isn't healthy). But not having a period due to certain meds, no need to be worried, often times it's the point of the meds and your uterus is protected.

Testogel can slightly suppress ovulation at long-term higher doses but wouldn't at the low dose you are on, and also you've just started taking it.

Thank you so much. This has really settled me. I haven’t ever had this before, apart from when pregnant. Is in fact a similar feeling physically.
