Knicker liners

I can't believe at the age of, mumble, mumble, 50 something, I am turning to MN to ask this. Name changed to preserve some vague sense of dignity.

Anyway, with perimenopause, I am getting a lot of low levels break through bleeding. Not heavy enough for a cup or tampon. And for the first time in my adult life using knicker liners. Except they are all shit. If I line them up with the gusset (🤢), they don't seem to be in the right place. If I move them a bit further forward to catch the blood, the tail end is too wide for the gusset, so they stick to my pubes and tug at them. No, my pubes are not being removed at this stage of life! Or they stick to my jeans and get pulled off my knickers and I end up with a bundle of knicker liner attached to my inner thigh and still have mucky knickers to deal with. They are uncomfortable and annoying.

What am I doing wrong? Which knicker liners actually fit properly?

Try tena sensitive long liners. They have no wings but are properly sticky all the way across. Far superior.

id also just get some period pants. Much comfier and if it’s only light bleeds you’d not need the thicker ones.

Period pants are the answer. Knicker liners made me itch like fuck during menopause!

dementedpixie · 18/10/2025 10:40

I use Carefree liners that I buy in a big box from home bargains. They're unscented. Or if im doing an exercise class I use the Tena sensitive liners. Ive never had an issue with either of them moving about

I find period pants make me a bit hot and sticky. My breakthrough bleeding is very light so I just change my pants.

Washable pads are so much more comfortable than nasty sticky bits of plastic. I only discovered them a few years ago and they were a revelation.

I use Always in the extra long length. Or M&S confidence pants.

LoveSandbanks · 18/10/2025 11:09

Washable pads or period panties. I like the ones with merino wool gusset as they are odour neutralising.

DogTiredAllTheTime · 18/10/2025 11:36

The period pants from m and s are really good and don’t make me too hot. They are the only ones that don’t.

JinglingSpringbells · 18/10/2025 11:59

@Throwaway986 Body Form do a box of panty liners that are LONG and are better than any others I've used. They should work for spotting.
They are boxed and not wrapped, but are totally perfume-free.

Panty Liners Long+ - Yoni

These are great, don't stink like the big brand ones and are long and comfortable. Any others make me itch, presumably due to all the chemicals in them. You can buy in Sainsburys

Throwaway986 · 18/10/2025 21:51

Thank you all.
Will try longer ones before period pants as this definitely feels like it is my body's last stand against actually giving up the bleed, so I don't want to invest in period pants if different liners will be better.

The Tena long ones are great and seem to be pretty sticky, I rarely have them move or become uncomfortable

Cheekie wipes washable pads are soft and comfortable and very good value. They last for years, wash well and have saved me a fortune.
