Everol and Progesterone prescription

I am on Everol 50 (about to go up to 75) and my GP is adamant the progesterone dose/prescription for me along side this is just 100mg e.g 1 tablet for days 14-28 of my cycle. I still have periods, everywhere I read online etc says the usual amount to take is 200mg. I think I am being prescribed less purely because of HRT shortages, and wondered what risks there could be if any in taking less than the recommended about?

The dose is 200mgs for sequential.

It's on the leaflet! And online.

No shortages at the moment for micronised progesterone and even if there was, your GP should provide an alternative progestogen not the incorrect dose!

I have raised this more than once and been shot down. I don’t understand why they have got it so wrong.

Good grief 🙄 Wonder how many other women that GP is under-prescribing. Hope they do a review of all patients on HRT.

Exactly.

This is very serious @Rosienose
Not only because you've been under-dosing for some time (which comes, long term, with a risk of hyperplasia) but also because your GP appears to refuse to make the simplest of checks about the dose.

Also, once you go up to a 75mcg patch, the BMS suggests some women may need 300mgs a day on the sequential form, to control the womb lining.

oral micronised progesterone 200 mg/day for 12 days a month,

You need to decide what to do. It could be a letter to the practice manager, an appt with the GP taking in a print off the NHS info, or the info from the BMS. Whatever you decide, it's worrying other women are exposed to the same thing.

Hi, so the GP clinic has finally contacted me and agreed I am correct and the recommended dose is 200mg every 14 days if still having periods. They’ve also noted that as I have gone up to 75mg patches that it is increased to 300mg.
They have said as I haven’t had any unusual bleeding they don’t think I need an ultra sound to check all is ok there.

As I knew they were under prescribing the Progesterone tablets I have actually been taking 2 instead of one for a while.

What would you do you think I should do next if anything? A letter of complaint? Would you want an ultrasound. Not sure if I should be worried or not
