Utrogestan tablets - I'm so confused about when to take

Can anyone advise me please as I really don't want to ring the GP . I've read some posts on here but the wording is different like 1 - 15 and 15 - 28 🤔

The instructions on the tablets say 1x 100mg 3 + 4 of cycle.

I don't really have a proper cycle , some months I get a period some I don't, GP knows this, he said to just start it .

I'm just unsure when I take it, do I start the same date each month, or week 3 + 4, or just do 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. The instructions are in a different language then when I googled it said the minimum starting dose is 200mg, the box does have 30 tablets but the instructions from the chemist says 1 tablet.

I hadn't realised how complicated this was going to be, anyone who can help I'd really appreciate it .

Syncing with a cycle also doesn't work if you are on a hormonal form of birth control that stops periods (other than Mirena, which is used in place of utrogestan).

You still have to take the cyclic progesterone element of the HRT (utrogestan) for days 14-28 if you are pre-menopausal and are not using Mirena, or have a Mirena older than 5yrs. Mirena is licensed for use as contraception for 8yrs but HRT for 5yrs, so you have to change it out after 5yrs if you are using it for HRT.

Thank you to @Livingthebestlife for posting this question. I've been frantically searching the internet for the last day or two in relation to Utrogestan. I've been on HRT for about 2 1/2 to 3 years. As my period became very erratic very early on I agreed with my doctor that I would take Utrogestan 2 weeks on 2 weeks off which seemed to be working fine. In August/September my period went all over the place and I had three full on periods in six weeks. Then last week my period started almost on time and as normal with the lightest of flows, hardly there and yesterday and the day before turned into a normal flow - today is day 8. I had a check up last week to renew my prescription and it was a different doctor and she kept questioning me about how I take my progesterone. This really made me think I have been doing it wrong. One thing I have discovered is that without realising (and I was very careful in the beginning), I have been taking one too many for quite a while because I just realised the chemist has been given me a pack of 15. Quite often, my preiod has started before I have finished the two weeks of Utrogestan. The advice here has been brilliant and has really put my mind at ease. I should start Ustrogestan again on Thursday but if this period is not finsihed by then, I think I'll wait until it is and start afresh sticking with 2 weeks on 2 weeks off.

In response to @JinglingSpringbells this makes sense - although I've just been using the Flo app to keep track of cycle days/dates.

I am counting the day my period starts as day 1 and then I start the Utrogestan on day 15. I take it until day 26, then usually start bleeding a couple of days later which becomes day 1 again.

My question is, how do I know when I am through the menopause. Do you stop bleeding, even if you are still taking HRT? I assumed my periods were kind of artificial like when you're on the pill but is that not the case? Should I eventually stop? And then do you stop taking HRT? My GP is crap at explaining.
