HRT and ashwagandha

Is it ok to take both? I’m on oestrogen patches (75mg) and have the mirena. My symptoms are generally ok apart from sleep. A friend recommended a supplement to me that had ashwagandha in it but is it ok to take it when I’m already on HRT?

I don't know about taking it with hrt, you should probably ask your doctor but just wanted to share my own experience of ashwagandha.

I took it for two nights and it made me feel really weird and foggy headed. The only other time I felt similar was years ago when I was first prescribed antidepressants. I stopped taking it. Its banned in Denmark.

If you're having sleep issues you might find magnesium helps

Thank you, that’s interesting that it’s banned in Denmark. I didn’t know that.

I’ve tried various forms of magnesium (spray, different tablets, most recent being magnesium glycinate) but I’ve not seen any improvements with them.

I have read that it is one of those plants that contains phytoestrogens (there are several, including soy and flax) and so can upset the balance of oestrogen in the body. I’m no expert but you could have a google.

I take it, and have for about 6 months, on HRT patches.

The next step is usually to increase your dose of estrogen.
Is that something you can discuss with your GP?
