Wondering if anyone else has had positive effects since starting HRT, I take Oestrogel in the morning, the gel on my arms then the Progesterone capsules in the evening. I was having horrendous panic attacks, fast palpitations which I thought were unbearable to the point I thought I was running a constant marathon and then the crippling thoughts and on edge fears were unbearable. I was desperate, thinking is it just stress, as never experienced the dizziness too which was part of it on top, so i was just a walking wreck as far as I was concerned.!!

On Saturday just gone, I started HRT and today being Tuesday afternoon the anxiety, the palpitations have both gone its like peace, a sense of calmness and like a different person. I have also taken D3, Menopace, B6 and ashwagandha for a few weeks now, I think its helped immensely.

I just need my sleep back, my exercise and my thoughts to only think this can only get easier in time.

anyone else had good effects from HRT or these types I take....?

I just turned 50 in February of this year and I started to fear going away more in this year and the dizziness only started last week when I had a new kitchen fitted, very odd indeed but might be the fact that anymore added stress killed me off the edge, very odd, but thats when I knew something was off as well as the mood swings!!
thank you for reading, we can get through this!! xx

Doesn't matter if you're late, just join the party. The sweating made me miserable. I was researching Botox before I went on to the HRT.

This summer is the first in 4 years I haven't had to change clothing during the day or carry tissue to blot my neck and forehead constantly. I forgot what it feels like to just be a normal temperature.

Belladog1 · 03/09/2025 09:45

I started HRT in June, and the change was amazing. Mainly I was suffering from hot flushes. They went from being evening flushes to pretty much all day flushes. I was constantly sweaty. Within 2 days of using HRT, the sweating stopped.

I have noticed that the night sweats are starting again, but instead of rushing immediately to the GP - I am going to style it out for a little while and see if it settles again. I was OK through the heatwaves, and then as soon as it got cooler, the sweating started 🤔But it might just be a blip.

I must admit that I do feel angrier now than I did before. Luckily I live alone with my dogs, but occasionally the smallest thing will send me into a rage.

I am happy though on HRT and just being able to sleep through the night again was a huge plus for me.

Has any been on the Evorel Sequi patches? I’m just waiting for my next period to start them, no idea when that will be though but I’m eager to start.

Passthecake30 · 04/09/2025 06:47

I recall the 3rd day, getting out of bed and realising my ankles didn’t ache. I hadn’t even realised that was a symptom, I went on it for all the other things - tinnitus, anxiety, palpitations, sleep, sweats - everything improved in that 3 days.

humptydumptyfelloff · 04/09/2025 07:40

This post is really interesting.
im 45 but have been having sweats at night especially for over 8 months now.
palpitations shorter cycles and more painful cycles.
normally sleep is ok because im literally exhausted alot but this past week its been awful.

cant decide if im too young still

im medicated for anxiety and generally im fine but i do have times where im more anxious and stressy than other and my moods go up and down.

reading this post has made me contemplate making a gp appointment and getting some advice from them

WhereAreMyAirpods · 04/09/2025 07:41

I slept better from the first night of using an estrogen patch (I have had a hysterectomy so no progesterone) and my awful anxiety eased within a week.

'reading this post has made me contemplate making a gp appointment and getting some advice from them'

You're not too young at 45, could definitely be perimenopause. A word of warning about asking the GP for advice - some GPs are up to date with current perimenopause guidelines and provide excellent care. Some GPs don't have a clue, and are still spouting stuff about HRT being dangerous and it can't be perimenopause if you're younger than 50.

So go in informed - start tracking your symptoms using the free Balance app, and do that for a few weeks so that you have a picture of what's going on for you over time. There's loads of info on there about nutrition, sleep, exercise and managing menopause in general. I would highly recommend HRT by the way, if you're a candidate for it. So I would recommend going to the GP prepared to ask for what you want, rather than solely relying on them to guide you

I'm younger than you and as I say, I have been on it for 6ish months. My symptoms were very perimenopausal in nature. I'd had intermittent night sweats for 5 ish years (!), my cycles started getting longer and longer (50-72 days), my emotions were all over the place, I had palpitations and restless legs. Plus, my mother had very early menopause, before 40 years old, which meant that I was at higher risk of the same thing. It is worth checking what age your mother was too, as it is taken into account when assessing you. Because I was so young, I had to have a few tests to check that my symptoms weren't down to other factors (scans & bloods), but that was routine and it wasn't an issue to put me on HRT.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 04/09/2025 08:51

@Passthecake30, I'd totally forgotten about the tinnitus but you're right! It has mostly gone. It only comes back now if I drink too much coffee.

user9064385631 · 04/09/2025 08:52

@Pippaandme I’ve found it very helpful too.
I was told to put the gel on inner thigh not arms as you don’t want it near breasts apparently.
Hope it continues to be of benefit!

ShortberryStrawcake · 04/09/2025 09:23

I had a total hysterectomy at 52 so was coming up to menopause, but still had regular periods. I rode it out for nearly a year before seeking help due to suffering in the heatwave, assuming I would just get better over time ... how stupid! I started on two pumps of estrogen every morning.

Within days the flushes and sweats just stopped dead and I slept for 5 hours without waking. It was like a miracle. After a couple of weeks I noticed my hips and knees had stop hurting and I'd stopped hobbling around for an hour after waking. Mentally I'm better as I have a lot more energy and want to be out and about do things instead of just sitting and doomscrolling. Also, I'm not sure if it's the estrogen or if I'm a bit more active but my waistline seems to be making a comeback.

I'd urge anyone to give HRT a go, if they're able to use it. Quality of life is so important.

Mine goes on inner thighs too. Any remaining gel goes on my upper, outer arms.

I've just started the gel, 1 pump in the mornings and a 200mg tablet before bed. I'm 2 years post-menopausal and struggled on for so long but the lack of sleep was just unbearable. It was taking 2 hours for me to just to get off to sleep, then 2 or 3 times up to pee, and hours trying to get back to sleep.
I hope I don't start bleeding again though, my doctor didn't mention it.

ForLoveNotMoney · 06/09/2025 10:27

I started yesterday (41 years old) Took my first 2 pumps of gel and I think I already feel a tiny bit better (although I did start my period this morning too so could just be that). Either way, I am excited to see if this helps the crippling anxiety I have had constantly for the last 3 months.

Ataloss44 · 07/09/2025 08:49

One other thing hrt has helped with is weight loss. Not massively but a stone has gone of which has helped me feel better. Still got half a stone to shift which will be harder to achieve I think

I started this Saturday gone so I’m on my 5th day. Oestrogel and Utrogestan. I’ve had awful nausea and headaches and so overall feeling worse than before. Wish it had worked quick for me too. I’m obviously sticking with it. My worse symptom is insomnia so I’m hoping I see changes soon.

Sorry to hear this, try the gel you rub onto your arm or legs Estrogen and the Progesterone capsules at night, if you cann if these symptons dont change, just a thought or its the dose maybe? its always hard, as even last night I was not really tired but up all night wide awake, I swear the Estrogen is giving me loads of energy! Progesterone is meant to make you tired lol so its hard to know what is working and what isnt but also seabands are good to take the nausea off you too..fingers crossed you feel better on it soon

Thank you! I was on 2 pumps but I’ve reduced it to 1 today plus I took the progesterone (just the 100 dose) vaginally last night (I am taking at night). I haven’t felt as nauseous so far today but so so tired. Totally fed up of feeling so rubbish and lacking energy 😕

might be that it was too strong for your body into the system as Im only on one on each arm and 100 is what they recommend in the evening too ,so you should be ok, is your diet good too? exercise, water intake? Yoga, eating low carbs everything helps!! x

I use 2 pumps of oestrogel in morning and one 100g progesterone capsule in the evening. I take the progesterone for 25 days then a 3 day break. No more night sweats or anxiety but I’m bleeding round about day 18 of taking my tablets and then again about day 3 of taking my tablets. It’s really draining. Trying to see doctor don’t want to stop HRT. I’m 56 and fed up!
