I’ve been on HRT since January.

started on patches but bled continuously so I was moved to gel (2 pumps) and tablets (utrogestan).

Still bleeding. Every day, almost. Some days heavy, some days lighter. Occasionally get a day or two with no bleeding.

was originally on it for brain fog, joint aches, sleeping or lack thereof and hot flushes. And just generally feeling meh. The only thing it’s helped with is the hot flushes.

please can anyone suggest what I need to do? Doc is refusing to refer me coz it’s not 6 months since the change to the tablets and gel but I’m really struggling.

went out this morning not bleeding and started to bleed at lunchtime and it’s really affecting my life.

Jesus. See another GP and insist on referral. That amount of bleeding is not normal.

Thank you. I will ask to see a different gp.

oops - wrong thread

Poor you @Bloodyhrt :(

Can you give a bit more info? (By the way, each type and dose needs a 3 month trial, not 6 months.)

It sounds as if whatever dose you're on, your own periods are perhaps breaking through?

How old are you? and how far into peri or post menopause are you?

How much gel do you use and how much progesterone? Daily or on a cycle?

How old are you? and how far into peri or post menopause are you? - I’m 55 so I assume I’m menopausal.

How much gel do you use and how much progesterone? Daily or on a cycle? - daily for both will check doses when I’m back home.

thank you so much

Sorry, I see you're on 2 pumps of gel.

How much Utrogestan are you taking? 1 capsule a day?

If you have changed from a sequential regimen (that's a cycle with 12 days of progesterone) to continuous, then yes, it can take 6 months for the womb lining to become thin and not bleed.

I wasn't sure if your first post meant you had changed from a different type, or moved from sequential to continuous.

Spotting daily is common when changing to continuous HRT but not heavy bleeding UNLESS this is your own period- had your periods stopped prior to HRT?

Your GP could suggest doubling the progesterone ( 2 x 100 capsules daily) or suggesting the Mirena coil, or swapping you to patches that have a different progesterone and is stronger -so maybe less bleeding.
