Thoroughly enjoying the post menopausal 60+ loss of architecture and general discomfort stage here...

And my FB and Insta are full of ads for products like this.

Just wondered if anyone had tried it (£28), what it does, your review?

I use Yes VM which is very good indeed internally for dryness but needed something for the dry itchy external labia, so got victory oil. I've had it a couple of weeks and it's OK, but I can't help feeling it's very overhyped. I dislike the drippy oil dispenser which you use to squeeze it on your fingers and then smear over the vulva. It just gets everything oily and feels like you're wasting the expensive oil as half of it's on your hand which then has to be washed. It's helped, but I doubt I'll get it again.

404PageNotFound · 13/08/2025 14:33

No, but I have seen it advertised and have been considering it but it's so expensive!

Summerhillsquare · 13/08/2025 15:04

Would you try the prescription topical oestrogen? Helps the bladder too.

JFDIYOLO · 13/08/2025 15:13

I have the prescription estradiol pessaries (they look like those little coffee sweeteners) for the last month or so. I think it takes a while to kick in!

I'll keep an eye on the Naydaya oil, see if any more reviews.

Tho I have found a little swipe of baby oil after washing morning and evening is rather effective!

People say coconut oil is very effective.

GRCP · 13/08/2025 15:55

I tried it and loved it but it’s too expensive so I now use a much cheaper vulva balm

MrsGodiva · 13/08/2025 17:19

@JFDIYOLO Why not use estrogen cream like Ovesse or from your GP? Free for over 60s. Estriol 0.1%? You can use it externally at the same time as vagifem pessaries.

The hype on that product is not exactly convincing. 'Pomegranate oil builds collagen' - since when? Meaningless pseudoscience.

Developed with gynaecologists- but not named?

proven- on just over 100 women for 4 weeks- hardly a true experiment.

Really annoys me these companies trying to sell stuff when there are safe, effective treatments out there.

The pessaries do take a while to kick in especially at this age and stage post menopause, and only work on the vagina not the vulva. So if the discomfort is there I agree get some vaginal oestrogen cream prescribed. I’m a GP and have seen these ads too, was tempted for a moment then thought for goodness sake surely I should just get some vaginal oestrogen?! So I did and it’s worked well for me.

MrsGodiva · 13/08/2025 17:31

These companies prey on women who don't do any research, who are maybe embarrassed to discuss with a GP etc.

longtompot · 13/08/2025 17:58

@JFDIYOLO I bought some when desperate with dryness etc after my hysterectomy and it didn't help with that how I hoped, though it is a nice oil. It has, however, been a very good lubricant, though an expensive one, so wouldn't buy again.
Sweet Almond oil from The Soapery is very good, and far cheaper, and I think would be kinder to sensitive areas that baby oil which is a mineral oil, and I find it feels slightly gritty.
I would speak to your gp though. I think we were chatting before you had your op werent we? Apologies if I have got it wrong, but if you have had the same op, then you need to be religious about using the medication prescribed. I was referred to the vulva clinic at my local gynae dept and they prescribed cream externally and pill internally which I had to do every day for four weeks, then every other day for four weeks and am now twice a week for the pill and three times a week for the cream. Still get itchy but nothing like it was. I use emollient cream to wash with, and a large tub for £5 is really worth getting and the consultant said to continue with doing that.

Hi @longtompot - it wouldn't be me (but I have had hysteroscopies with polypectomies.) Thankyou for your thoughts there! 🤗 I'm just about to start another thread on a supplement I've seen advertised. The quest goes ever on.
