HRT patch itching- don’t want to move back to gel

I’d love any recommendations. Was in estrogel since May and last month I have been trialling patches instead. But they have started to itch after a day or so and by the night before I change, it is really bad. I keep moving the site (thighs, bum- but different places, my arse is huge 😂).

The patches are just so much more practical. Remembering to put the gel in every day (I often have to get undressed again because I forget). I also camp/campervan a few times a month and it is a pain trying to do gel every day in a confined space (and then wait for it to absorb/dry). And then there was an issue with sun cream application (I’m very pale). I’m going on a trek soon in mountain, desert, staying in small tents and again the practicality. And remembering to pack the gel!

Im not that surprised as I get a reaction from ECG stickers (I have a heart condition that require lots of ECGs!). Any way to make 4 pumps of gel more practical?

Have you tried the spray (Lenzetto)? It dries really quickly. Not sure if they only prescribe that for lower doses but it’s what I use.

Second vote for lenzetto. Clear, alcohol based spray.

Thanks, I’ll ask my GP. The menopause doctor only offered choice of gel and patch. But hopefully this might be an option.

I had exactly the same issue OP, swapped to evorel 75 patches about 18 months ago as the gel was a nuisance - also a camper so I know what you mean about standing around waiting for it to dry! Had absolutely no issues until around a month ago when suddenly the patches started to irritate my skin and it seemed to affect absorption as well.

Tried Lenzetto but even on four sprays it didn’t work as well as the patches so I’ve reluctantly gone back to gel.

Similarly have issues with plasters and ECG stickers.

Also a camper finding gel a pain 😏 I can’t wait for estradot to come back into stock - it’s the only patch that doesn’t irritate my skin.

I've been using patches for a year, they've worked great to resolve my peri meno symptoms. My issue is that they're itchy and can retain water if I go swimming, so my GP is trialling me on tablets. Is this an option for you?

I wasn’t offered tablets. I thought transdermal was best? My is oestrogen only, not sure if that makes any difference.

The gel works, it’s just a faff!

Just had a read, I have a heart condition so can’t do the tablets as there risk of blood clots.
