Period post-menopause

My periods were regular until December 2022, when they suddenly stopped. I'm not sure that it was menopause, as I just had major surgery and my immune system went down (including warts for the first time - literally I'd been dealing with children with them for years and never succumbed until surgery and they're still here).

In April 23 I had a period, followed by another, then they became very irregular - in fact I'd say they stopped as it was just a bit of pink on a toilet roll for less than a day.

In April 24 I was given Evorel Sequi, the random pink mucus occurred randomly occurred,

In December I was changed to Evorel Conti as I'm too old for Sequi. She said the mucus didn't count as a period, as it was very scarce, so I'm classed as post-menopausal.

I've had no pink mucus since changing to the continuous HRT.

I had really bad insomnia this week (worse than usual, literal no sleep at all), itchy legs in bed, ulcers all over the inside of my cheeks, migraines, worsening of asthma - then my period started. A proper period. Bright red blood that is heavy enough to leak through sanpro, feeling sick and really bad cramps.

I'm guessing it's nothing to worry about, as I did have the ulcers, asthma, migraines, etc, plus I suffered terribly with cramps, sickness and migraines during my periods, which is exactly like before.

We're away next week, so I guess I just want reassurance, as I was told to contact GP urgently for bleeding after 6 months, and this is, but it is 100% a period.

I'm 55.5. My mum had her last period at 51 and my sister at 48.

I'd see a different GP.

You can never be 'too old' for sequi- it depends on your menopause stage and age, as well as your own preferences on HRT.

You're supposed to get a monthly withdrawal bleed on sequi.
Any pink discharge counts as a bleed- even 1 drop.
Spotting etc can occur for 6 months when you start conti.

Your GP needs to refer you for a scan.

Bleeding after menopause is a red flag symptom and you need to see a doctor. Hopefully just a period related to HRT and nothing sinister.
