Hi, I’m 50. Definitely in the menopause era. I’ve always been a little scatty but managed to perform reasonably well I’m a qualified speech and language therapist. But have never climbed up the career ladder always choosing to stay within my comfort zone.

Lately this scantiness has gone up a notch or several !. I’m forgetting what I came upstairs for. Putting things back in the wrong places. Forgetting colleagues (albeit distant)names !! I have to have a not book with me at all times otherwise it’s not getting done !

Im exercising regularly, eat well, take supplements and am on Hrt already !

anyone experienced this ? Has anyone any advice for me.

Thanks in advance

I did have some advice, but then I forgot what it was.

I sympathise massively. For me I think it is clear I have undiagnosed Adhd. Clear to me anyhow after research and my unravelling the past few years. My always ditzy mind (as I saw it) went off the scale. My verbal memory round word/ name retrieval still shot and still concerns me. (Dementia fears). I am on a low dose oral hrt. Brain fog still an issue though helped with sleep and anxiety.

lol *floopybit
& and thanks *EmeraldJeanie- it’s awful isn’t it . Some days I’m finding am more with it than others. Yes the dementia fears are terrifying. Lots of my peers are experiencing similar with the brain fog.
One thing im now considering is testosterone as that will also help with my non existent libido 😹maybe .

I am really feeling it OP, it is impacting my work and confidence which is then making me feel overwhelmed and full of self doubt. I am taking HRT, supplements and trying to get through it but I felt so lost, like someone has taken my brain and replaced it with marshmallow.

I had this - it got so bad I literally could not remember how to make a cup of tea.
HRT helped me out so I'm back to normal now but I had to go private to make sure I was on the right dosage.

Considering 90% of my SLT team is middle-aged women - none of us can remember anything some days so you're just fine! I completely couldn't remember our team admin's name (who I email most days) the other day!

Start meditating 10 minutes a day.Find the right technique for you, your memory will improve.

I feel for you. I’m the same. I’m on HRT and that’s helped to some extent but compared to my pre-menopausal self, I feel like a goldfish. A retarded goldfish at times.

I used to have a reputation at work for being super sharp and switched on. Now I spend a lot of energy covering up how lacking in sharpness I am. I work in a competitive industry and drawing attention to my age is not a great idea. So I struggle on and try not to compare myself to how I used to be but OMG I notice the difference all the damn time!

It is so exhausting maintaining the same level as before having to work twice as hard to keep up, often with little sleep. Also agree that there is lots of pressure not to show any signs of this at work for fear of being written off. The pressure is immense.
