Has anyone felt better off it than on it ? I’m a big advocate for addressing women’s health issues and definitely pro hrt if it helps especially to navigate the peri menopause . i started taking it age 47 at peri and loved it. Fast forward 10 years i’m wondering if it’s worth dropping. i know lots of menopause specialists believe that it’s best to stay on due to bone / heart health but it’s making my allergies worse i think as im histamine intolerant. During pregnancy i suffered with constantly running nose / hideous back pain etc. i’m also hypothyroid and have adenomyosis/ endometriosiss which is fed by hormones and hypermobility. I’ve weaned the gel down gradually and last few days stopped ( gel/ oral progesterone) and feel less bloated, mentally fine & am sleeping better as less stuffed up. Has anyone else felt better off it than on it ? i’ll still use the creams etc for VA

I was only on it for three years, and it did help immensely to begin with, with the anxiety, night sweats and sleeplessness. I was only on 2 squirts of the Oestrogel gel, and the two week regime of Progesterone. Over time though, the Progesterone was making me feel rubbish, so I came off it earlier this year.

Tbh I feel great. No more issues, anxiety is OK, no hot flushes and sleeping well. Periods have stopped. I am 59 though, so older. I accept I am probably very lucky in not having an early or difficult menopause.

The only way is to take a 3 month break and see how you feel.
I'm a lot older than you and have tried a couple of times to stop but had night sweats again.
I only stopped for around a month.
However, I do feel ok on a very low dose.

I'd suggest that part of your decision-making longer term is to get a DEXA scan for your bones (about £200 privately- needs doing every 3 years if you are 'normal' and it show no decline.) That's an important part of the choice.

Thankyou .. i’m wondering if my endometriosis might rear its head if i stop that so definitely going to give it a trial and see. Also will be getting a dexa scan arranged !
