Can it be perimenopause if absolutely no changes to periods?

I’m having lots of peri symptoms - hot flushes, anxiety, can’t sleep. However period wise there has been no changes whatsoever. My periods are exactly every 28 days, ovulating mid cycle, and no change to length / heaviness etc. Recent hormone tests as part of wider blood tests showed oestrogen levels, FSH and LH all good.

I’m 43 and every time I mention the sleep / hot flushes/ anxiety perimenopause is brought up. I’m happy to try HRT but it feels like perimenopause is the only suggestion and I’m worried that it’s not and is something else (No idea what!). I’m hypothyroidism but not over medicated. This has been fairly gradual but getting worse.

So did anyone have symptoms but their periods were fine but benefitted from HRT?

Yes - I was a few years older and on the mini pill so no periods but those were exactly my symptoms.

Yes you can have symptoms before periods change

43 is quite young

hormone tests are pretty useless as hormone levels fluctuate such a lot especially in peri

have you seen a doctor - usually they want to rule out other stuff first

after that at your age hrt would be very good idea

I tried but I was just told I must have an anxiety disorder. He would only consider prescribing for anxiety. I might try privately if period changes aren’t necessary. I know menopause can be earlier with hypothyroidism though. Thank you.

I did. Took a while to get it sorted and I used Bupa for a private menopause consult as my dr was useless…

Yes I believe changes in your periods are often later than the other symptoms. Vaginal and Uribary symptoms often start to appear late 30’s early 40’s due to hormonal changes too.

Im 43 and have symptoms - irritability, waking at night, zero sex drive and have issues down below that I’m trying to work out are hormonal.

My mild periods just stopped age 48 so she would have been perimenopausal for some time before that though wouldn’t have realised in the 1990’s!

I can recommend talking to Dr Coward at https://myviahealth.co.uk/ appointments are online, but they are very good, periods can definitely remain normal for a lot of women, and there wouldn't be any harm in trying some HRT to see if your symptoms eased.
