Will GP stop my HRT - breast lump

Only (finally!) managed to get HRT 3 months ago after suffering horribly with peri symptoms for ages and it's been amazing so I'm obviously anxious to hang onto it. Found a lump tonight on the top part of my chest, sort of between my collarbone and the top of my boobs which I'll be seeing the GP about asap but I'm worried the first thing she'll do is stop my HRT, is that likely does anyone know please?

I had a lump removed (it was benign) and didn’t have to stop HRT. I think they only advise you to stop if it is hormone-fuelled cancer (not all cancer is).

Get your lump investigated. I hope all will be well.

When I was on HRT I got cyst after cyst in my breasts. I saw an eminent Professor who advised it was likely transient but meno and HRT related but if I found the benefits of the HRT outweighed the worry of the cysts, to crack on providing I had annual checks.

Sometimes I was like a pin cushion after a check up.

Once I was post menopausal and stopped HRT it all stopped.

The GP was mealy mouthed but followed the advice of the breast consultant and later a very good gynaecologist titrated the HRT dose perfectly and instructed the GP that it shoukd be prescribed.

Thank you both, the thought of going back to hot flushes and no sleep on top of worrying about the lump was making me feel a bit panicky tbh! Will definitely be getting it checked out, thanks again.

Mine asked me to stop HRT while getting a lesion on my breast investigated, she did say she was being extra cautious. The NHS 2 weeks urgent referral waiting list was 8 weeks so went private through my workplace health plan and had all clear to restart 8 days later.

does HRT cause fibrocystic changes in the breasts? I have had to have these investigated and it's a horrible nerve-wracking process. I asked the consultant and he said it didn't, but it's not really 'natural' to be taking oestrogen and progesterone at 53 so I'm not sure if there isn't a link. Doesn't seem to be much research about it either. Fibrocystic changes are more common in younger women and hormone-driven. Hopefully that is all yours is OP. I'd rather go without HRT than go through this crap again.

I am on oral hrt and had a cyst aspirated a couple of years ago. I am in my late 50s.
Dr I saw at breast clinic said fine to continue hrt.

Have had a recurring cyst and am still on HRT. Interestingly, I find that if I start to use too much oestrogen my cyst comes up. Reduce the oestrogen - cyst disappears.

I went to the breast clinic yesterday for a cyst to be aspirated. I also had it aspirated a year ago. No ones told me to stop HRT, but my gynaecologist suggested either taking extra progesterone (I have mirena) or reducing my oestrogen patch. I’m going to reduce my patch.

It's worth knowing that even if you are advised to stop HRT, there's a non hormonal treatment called Veozah which targets the mechanism responsible for hot flushes and should be safe for you. Unfortunately not all doctors know about it but a well trained practitioner should be able to advise on this and probably other options I'm not aware of.
