Hi,
I have been having peri menopausal symptoms for 9 months, blood tests showed low oestrogen levels. My GP started me on HRT, I tried oestrogen patches with urgoestron for 25 of the 28 days cycle initially but had an allergic reaction to the adhesive on the patches- I switched to the gels and found no difference in my low mood, I increased the amount but it made it all worse and gave me crippling anxiety
i I have stopped it all together now and am hoping someone can give me some insight into vitamins etc that helped?

A diet high in leafy green veg, esp. kale, broccoli, brussels sprouts, spinach, etc. can really help, especially with easing or even eradicating hot flushes. Also try eating plenty of seeds: pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc. I'd recommend having a look online for the full list of fruit & veg that's particularly helpful to include in your diet during peri.

I spoke about this on another thread and another poster said the same thing about herself.

I had no perimenopause symptoms and only a week of slight discomfort of the menopause. I did take Menopace for three months just in case which is an over the counter supplement.

No weight gain whatsoever. I’m the same size as I’ve always been, slim!

My two sisters are the same, my sister in law, my mother and also my grandmother who is no longer with, all experienced little to no symptoms and no weight gain or brain fog which seem to be the two main things other women worry about.

I also have friends of the same age who have experienced the same.

We are all vegetarians and we are all active and outdoors with horses and dogs.

There are also no cancers in our family, men and women which appears to be unusual.

Try Menopace and see if it helps you. It’s readily available in supermarkets.

@white66 If you are in peri menopause you should be using sequential HRT which is progesterone for 12 days a month.

The regime of daily ( or 25 days per 28 which is the 'old' version')is for post menopause.

So, you've not really tried the type that is meant for women in peri.

There's quite a lot 'wrong' with the way you've been given HRT- not just too much Utrogestan (which is known to cause anxiety in some women) but also not trying a different type of progesterone if it's not helping.
Upping the estrogen won't help if you're not getting on with Utrogestan.
There are 3 others you can use including the Mirena coil.

Maybe see if there is another GP who knows about HRT?

Don't give up now without going back and discussing, and do some reading yourself on the different types and possible side effects.

And, vitamins don't work. A healthy diet yes, but thousands of women have very healthy diets and still need HRT.

Dr Louise Newson has a very good website for info.

Oh that’s interesting, the GP said I had it like that as I don’t have any periods (due to the POP)
Ive had a mirena before and it ‘got lost’ so keen not to try this again

I'm confused. Are you using the mini pill at the same time as HRT? (Or you were?)

You can use the mini pill and hrt but for some women this is progesterone overload. Using two sorts.

Also, the mini pill can be used as part of HRT- but you need 3 x Noriday daily.

Your GP may not know that but it is in medical guidance.

Additionally, the 25 days per month for continuous HRT is now outdated. It's used daily post menopause..

Good lord theres a lot of misinformation on this post, when you are in Peri the first hormone to drop is progesterone, Estrogen fluctuates for a couple of years before it drops and you go full Menopausal. Ideally you should start on P only, bodyidentical P (utrogestan) is known to reduce anxiety, Synthetic P (the Pill, Coil) is known to increase anxiety.

Most GP's won't entertain P without E, so go low dose E and if necessary just don't take it, I was on 200mg P with no break and low dose E and felt so much better.

The fact you increased your E and got bad anxiety is proof you don't need it or need very little, you need the P to replace what you've lost while your E fluctuates.
