Sorry of this has already been asked but…has anyone been recommended the combined pill to deal with peri menopause symptoms? How did it go? Been recommended doing so as I did not get on with HRT. Thanks for your input xx

My GP said she wouldn’t be happy giving me the combined pill at my age (44) even before I said I get migraines which would have ruled it out anyway. She recommended the mirena coil instead, has that been suggested?

Hi OP yes I was recommended the combined pill as it suited me perfectly for my whole life but as it’s synthetic the GP was reluctant, so I now take synthetic progesterone and a small patch. I would never recommend the coil if you are sensitive to hormones.

the risks with synthetic are slightly elevated so if you read up risks etc and you are happy you can actually buy the combined pill online.

I have a friend who rode through the whole of peri and menopause on the combined pill, al she just stopped taking it as 55 and was grand all done no symptoms.

My gynaecologist prescribed Zoely.

Yes that’s the one I have been given, how are you finding it? X

it’s all a minefield trying to get the right treatment. Your friend sounds lucky no symptoms! are you finding HRT
much different to combined pill? X
