Is this perimenopause?

my periods used to be like clockwork, every 28 days pretty much.

Now they’re all over the place. Once cycle could be 35 days and then the next 15. I never know when it’s coming.

I’m 43, almost 44. I did start my periods early (age 10) so did think I might become menopausal sooner. I’d say the irregular periods started maybe 5 years ago but have gradually got worse over the years.

Could be. My periods changed at the start of peri. Had some appalling heavy ones too. Really glad they happened whilst I was at home!

Yes I think that’s a classic perimenopause sign isn’t it? I skipped a period one month when I was 41 I think then again a year or so later. I started HRT age 43 as I didn’t want to miss out on essential oestrogen.

Ohh that’s interesting, was that your only symptom, the two missed periods? I hadn’t even considered hrt yet… I thought that came with the hot sweats stage!

I also felt a bit depressed but I never had a single hot flush. As you’re under 45 you should have bloods done by your GP to check if you’re perimenopausal-my bloods showed I was definitely peri. However even if your bloods are normal I still think it would be reasonable to ask for a trial of HRT.
