Peri in 30s?

Is this what's happening to me?

I'm 35, been irregular for the last few years eg 4 weeks, then 7 weeks, then 4 weeks.
It's now been 11 weeks since my last period.
My GP said he'll investigate when it gets to 6 months.

I've read a list of 'symptoms' and it honestly sounds like what I have been experiencing for the last 4 years, but I just feel too young?

I've booked a consultation with my health insurance provider but would appreciate any thoughts or advice.

Not necessarily too young to start at 35, 31 would be very young to start.
Has GP done any blood tests for anything else, such as thyroid? Could you speak to a different GP?

No blood tests to check for anything as he won't do them unless I reach 6 months without a period.

It's a small country practice and he's the only GP there so I can't see anyone else. I'm hoping the health care provider will be more helpful or try and point me in the right direction.

I started peri at 37, I m 46 now and still getting periods. So don't worry. It might be peri, but even if it is, you could have years of fertility to look forward to.

Some people are more prone to their cycles going into hibernation (particularly over the winter months) and waking up again. There is a lot of information out there.

I went 5 months without a period when I was 23 (ish). I eventually got anxious about it and went to the doctor, wondering was there any chance I could be pregnant, no bump, I was slim. The doctor laughed and said no, you are not 5 months pregnant, sometimes the ovaries just fall asleep. My period arrived the next day, the anxiety wad pms. 😅

Early morning sunlight in the eyes is good for your body clock and good to trigger ovulation. Sunlight brings on ovulation and periods, as far as I know.

Anyway don't stress too much, our hormones start dipping from 30 years onwards and then nosedive from about 42 years old.

There are 3 stages of perimenopause. You ll find information on line. In the first stage, early perimenopause, typically your cycle reduces in length, and you might get a light period every 3 weeks or so.

Mid stage is when you start skipping months. Late stage is when you go 80 plus days without a period, very late stage 120 plus days. But i ve had at least 3 times in my life, gone 5 to 6 months without a period. Once early 20s, once early 40s and again at 45.

Skipping periods might be peri, but you might also be prone an irregular cycle.

Hopefully your doctor will help.
