Vaginal atrophy improving with systemic not vaginal estrogen

Hi all.

Has anyone found that symptoms of vaginal atrophy completely resolved with systemic HRT and have not required vaginal HRT?

I ask as I was prescribed both but for various complicated reasons I won't bore you with I only started the systemic. Things seem to be getting better and I'm wondering if I don't need to bother with the vaginal stuff after all.

I'd be interested to hear people's experiences / views.

Thanks!

I’m like you. Don’t feel like I’ve had any atrophy but really dislike using the vagina one.

I need both, I have had patches since my hysterectomy 14 years ago but only started on the pessaries a year ago after 5 years of hell with constant infections & incontinence. I've gone from having a uti every 3-4 weeks & getting myself 6-7 times a day to being infection free & 99% dry in a year, I can actually wear proper pants again instead of adult pullups.

Not me OP, patches and progesterone didn’t help at all. Pessaries are improving it a bit but I’m going to ask for cream now too.

Do you have Kichen Sclerosus? My vagina is changing shape with a membrane growing over the entrance. I'm worried it will close completely. I'm on FB groups and it seems common. I use Estriol cream twice a week but would like other suggestions

I definitely have Kitchen Sclerosis 😂

But on a serious note you should ask for a referral to a specialist gynaecology clinic if this isn't being treated adequately in primary care.

Also don't fear systemic estrogen.

The bloodstream is nature's preferred way of delivering hormones to the genital tissues.
